The Justice League is undeniably one of the most popular superhero teams in existence; yet, despite its prevalence in TV, film, and, naturally, comic books, the Justice League has still not had a single good game specifically made about them. Sure, there have been a few attempts, namely in the fighting space, but, for the most part, fans of this iconic roster of heroes has been left a little to the wayside, at least where video games are concerned.
The last attempt at anything even resembling a game about the Justice League was the disastrous 2024 DC flop, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, although, as the title implies, the team was adversarial rather than playable. Fortunately, it would seem that, after years of waiting, fans of the Justice League may be in luck, as a new game centered on the titular team could be in the works and indeed not too far from release.
Legacy Of The Dark Knight Is An Excellent Take On Batman
After the enormous success of LEGO Batman: Legacy of The Dark Knight, there is rampant speculation that a follow-up title could focus on the Justice League. LEGO Batman: Legacy of The Dark Knight proved to be a smash hit with fans and has performed rather well financially for both TT Games and Warner Bros.; so, it makes sense for the studio to capitalize on the hype and release something in the same vein, likely in the same style, albeit based on a new set of characters.
Legacy of The Dark Knight is easily one of the best LEGO games, if not the greatest, and that’s largely down to just how brilliantly it portrayed the titular character. Batman has always fared favorably in video game form, but LEGO Batman: Legacy of The Dark Knight, with its penchant for the goofy, was able to tap into the moody Arkham-style variant and the classic not-so-serious versions from the 80s and long before.
Considering just how well TT Games managed to capture the spirit and essence of everyone’s favorite gravelly-voiced hero, one can imagine how incredible a Justice League-focused affair would be. Let’s not forget, this is the same studio that released the incredible LEGO Marvel Super Heroes all the way back in 2013, a game that more or less serves as a potential blueprint for a DC team-based LEGO title.
We Need LEGO Justice League Next
Now is, frankly, the perfect time for a brand-new Justice League game, especially a LEGO one. TT Games has, in recent years, found the perfect balance between LEGO-related shenanigans and genuinely compelling gameplay, something best evidenced by the aforementioned Legacy of the Dark Knight. With its talent for open-world design and its expert utilization of the Arkham combat model, it is primed to create a great Justice League game that does each of the team’s iconic characters justice (pun intended).
Well, it would seem one is likely on its way. LEGO Games News, which had previously leaked the existence of Legacy of the Dark Knight before it was announced, posted to X that TT Games’ next title would be based on a Warner Bros. property and that it believed it would be a DC title. Of course, it isn’t particularly surprising that the Warner Bros. owned TT Games would be developing a game based on Warner Bros. IP. However, it is exciting that it could be centered around a DC property, with the Justice League being the obvious choice.
A Superman-specific game could also be on the cards, as too could a Wonder Woman one, but while both would be fun to play as in a LEGO format, it would make more sense to pull from the entire roster, as that is what the LEGO games do best. Regardless, one can hope that the Justice League fans who’ve waited an eternity for a genuinely good title based on the team will finally get their wishes granted, even if it is in LEGO form.
