Grand Theft Auto VI is set to be the biggest game of 2026, but after repeated delays, many fans were concerned that the next GTA game wouldn’t arrive on time. Now, the Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, has officially confirmed the game is coming this November, confirming that November 19 is the title’s final release date.
Zelnick made a surprise appearance in a TikTok interview for The School of Hard Knocks, where he was asked if GTA VI would be delayed again. Instead of giving a vague answer, Zelnick confidently declared that the game would arrive on November 19, confirming that the game will finally be available this year.
GTA 6’s Delays Are Officially Over
Several months ago, it was announced that Grand Theft Auto VI would arrive on November 19, 2026. With that date now less than six months away, some fans had concerns about delays, but Take-Two has repeatedly assured fans the game is coming out on time, both on TikTok and in official earnings calls.
“Our Fiscal 2026 performance was exceptional and exceeded our initial expectations at every label,” Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said, as part of the company’s earnings call. “We believe Fiscal 2027 will establish new record levels of operating performance driven by the Nov. 19 launch of Grand Theft Auto 6, along with strong execution across our portfolio.”
Zelnick continued to say, “We expect to sustain this higher level of scale, generate strong cash flows, and deliver long-term shareholder value as we release our robust development pipeline, continue to optimize our live services, and capitalize on new business opportunities.”
To the uninitiated, news that Grand Theft Auto VI isn’t being delayed may not seem like such a big deal. However, those who’ve been waiting for the title since GTA V released in 2013, and who are familiar with how grueling the development of GTA VI has been, are likely either breathing heavy sighs of relief or popping bottles of champagne.
GTA 6‘s confirmed release date will also make many developers happy. Some games, like Fable, have already changed their release date to avoid going up against Rockstar’s juggernaut. At this stage, the only thing GTA fans need to worry about is another statement of Zelnick’s, which suggests that Grand Theft Auto VI may retail for $80 USD.
“We have some limited advertising inside games like NBA 2K because that, you know, it fits within the vernacular. You want to see advertising in an arena, in a stadium, because you would if you were there in real life.” After saying this, Zelnick was asked about interstitial advertisements in gaming and said, “Very difficult for me to believe that we would want to have interstitial advertising in a game that someone paid 70 or 80 bucks for would seem unfair.”
For most games, an $80 price tag would be a kiss of death. But, for GTA 6, it likely wouldn’t impact its sales at all, and it’s also hard to argue that it wouldn’t still be worth it. At launch, the open world magnum opus will likely have hundreds of hours of content, and Rockstar has already confirmed that there will be post-launch content.
