The Xenoblade Chronicles series is officially returning for the Nintendo Switch 2 with a game that looks very different from any of the previous entries. While each game in the Xenoblade series involves new characters in locations, the series is known for massive worlds, a mix of fantasy and sci-fi elements, and some overarching ideas and threads.
Announced at the June 2026 Nintendo Direct, the next entry, Xenoblade Genesis will launch in 2027. Xenoblade Genesis is abandoning many of the sci-fi elements of prior entries, focusing on a fantastical school setting that seems more in line with Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Nintendo also announced Switch 2 editions of the original Xenoblade Chronicles trilogy, with the first available today.
