Resident Evil – Code: Veronica Remake Officially Revealed

A remake of Resident Evil – Code: Veronica was officially revealed at today’s Summer Game Fest. The title will reimagine the fan-favorite Resident Evil title, in which players play as both Claire Redfield and her brother, Chris.

Resident Evil – Code: Veronica was originally released in 2000 for the Sega Dreamcast, which limited the game’s reach. The upcoming remake will allow many fans to experience the title for the first time, and visual and quality-of-life upgrades mean it’ll be a better experience than ever.

Rumors of a Resident Evil – Code: Veronica remake have been swirling for a while now, with leakers stating that a remake was currently in development and would be announced later this year. These leaks also said that the game would lean heavily into horror, appealing to fans of classic Resident Evil titles.

Interestingly, the upcoming game is simply titled Resident Evil: Veronica. While it’s not clear why Capcom opted to drop the “Code” from the game’s name, the new release will give fans an opportunity to experience a classic Resident Evil game for the first time.

Resident Evil – Code: Veronica received an HD remaster in 2011, but this new release is rebuilding the game from the ground up. In the reveal trailer, fans got a glimpse of Claire as she searched for her missing brother in Paris. While she’s greeted by a friendly old woman, it isn’t long before she finds herself in peril.
