007 First Light’s First DLC Announced

Despite it being mere weeks since 007: First Light was released, tonight’s Summer Game Fest has already treated fans to some exciting news as James Bond is set to return in a brand-new story mission.

After finishing the game earlier this week, I am eager for some extra content already, and I am sure you are too. Despite IO Interactive revealing that “James Bond will return” in the final moments of 007: First Light, we can expect it to be quite a while until we see the next mainline installment. However, it seems as though the wait will be a little bit easier as, according to the Summer Game Fest announcement, “Bawma will return”. Although when that is, is anybody’s guess.

Despite marketing Lenny Kravitz’s Bawma as one of the biggest antagonists that James would face in his budding years as 007, fans were left disappointed when the pirate king only appeared for approximately ten minutes of gameplay. After dangling Bond and Greenway over a pit of aligators, he soon let them go on their way after Greenway hinted at the location of Bawma’s sister. I don’t know about you, but I was left feeling underwhelmed.

However, it seems as though IO Interactive has us covered, as Bawma is set to return in a brand-new story mission for 007: First Light. Unfortunately, the announcement did not come alongside a release date, but we can imagine it will be pretty soon and, if I had to guess, I would say later this year. This is incredible news considering that 007: First Light has not yet celebrated its 1-month anniversary, but with the IO Interactive action-adventure game already selling over 2 million copies, it is no wonder that they are using this opportunity to give fans more whilst they wait for the highly anticipated sequel.

Here at Screen Rant, our very own Kyle Gratton awarded 007: First Light an impressive 9/10 in his review. Here is a brief snippet:

“007 First Light has a legitimate claim to being the best James Bond video game ever. It likely won’t be as influential as GoldenEye 007, and it can’t recapture my childhood memories of snipers-only duels on Nightfire‘s Ravine map, but it has a deep understanding of what makes James Bond so magnetic.”

So, it seems as though we are in for the long-haul when it comes to 007: First Light and future content. With just a brief teaser trailer giving us a glimpse into Moneypenny assigning Bond a mission back in Aleph, the face off between him and Bawma will be one to watch, so hopefully we do not have long to wait.
