New My Hero Academia Series Officially Launching This September

In April 2025, BONES FILM delved back into the action-packed world of My Hero Academia with Vigilantes — an anime which explores the plight of ‘unofficial’ heroes who are rejected by society and forced to operate from the shadows. As part of Crunchyroll’s Fall 2026 home video release slate, the iconic anime distributor is releasing Vigilantes’ explosive debut season on Blu-ray later this year.

As detailed in a recent press release, Crunchyroll’s official Blu-ray release for My Hero Academia: Vigilantes includes all 13 episodes from Season 1 and is also jam-packed with exclusive bonuses certain to delight MHA fans. In addition to a protective slipcase featuring vibrant artwork of the anime’s heroic lead, “The Crawler,” the Blu-ray collection includes four collectible art cards spotlighting the other colorful rogues who comprise the main cast.

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 1 Officially Gets Fall 2026 Blu-ray Release

Crunchyroll’s Season 1 Blu-ray release contains both the English and Japanese-language (subtitled) tracks for Vigilantes. Additional bonus features include textless opening and closing credit sequences, official promo videos and music videos. Not including tax, the Blu-ray costs approximately US$74.98. At the time of this writing, Crunchyroll’s “expected” shipping date for pre-orders is Sept. 7. The Blu-ray’s official retail release is scheduled for Sept. 8.

Vigliantes started as a canonical spinoff prequel manga penned by Hideyuki Furuhashi and illustrated by Betten Court. Initially published in August 2016, the work was serialized on Jump Giga and Shonen Jump+, until its conclusion in May 2022. Crunchyroll describes the series in its press release: “In a world where most have powers, but pro heroes are spread thin, justice calls for a new kind of crime fighter: vigilantes. When a quirk-boosting drug spreads, college kid Koichi must team up with an aspiring idol and an unpredictable brawler to fight back.”

Set four or five years before the events of My Hero Academia, Vigilante’s narrative strongly invokes the spirit of its predecessor by uniting an underdog protagonist with a lovable assemblage of allies who share his desire for justice. His main teammates are Kazuho Haneyama, aka “Pop Step,” a wannabe performer with the power to jump several meters into the air, and “Knuckleduster,” a fighter whose “Overclock” Quirk was stolen, leaving him to rely on his fists and a set of brass knuckles when confronting evildoers.

Vigilantes isn’t the only Shonen Jump anime release that Crunchyroll has planned for this fall. On Sept. 15, Kaiju No. 8 fans will also be able to get their hands on a sleek Blu-ray Steelbook edition of Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon — the first theatrical entry in the critically-acclaimed Kaiju No. 8 anime franchise. Initially released in March 2025, this compilation film retells the first portion of Kafka Hibino’s story while also presenting fans with a never-before-seen bonus episode revolving around Japan Defense Force Vice-Captain Soshiro Hoshina.

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Season 1 is available for pre-order on The Crunchyroll Store, a digital storefront accessible in several major territories, including North America, the UK and Europe. The original manga is available in English from VIZ Media. Additionally, both Vigilantes and the original My Hero Academia anime series are streaming on Crunchyroll’s premium content service.
