Having to wait for even a morsel of new content for Grand Theft Auto VI feels like slow torture. The last trailer we got was May 6, 2025, so it’s understandable that GTA fans are crawling up the walls waiting for something new. With the release date of November 19 still so far away…surely we’ve got new trailers to look forward to in the meantime?
Well, thanks to Take-two Interactive’s CEO Strauss Zelnick, we know the marketing campaign for Grand Theft Auto VI isn’t kicking into first gear until the Summer. With budding chronologists marking the official beginning of summer as 21 June, it would seem new content is almost upon us. Fans of Reddit have theorized that June 23 is D-Day, and we should all mark our calendars in anticipation.
Why June 23, I hear you ask? Well, with the start of the summer (June 21st) being on a Sunday, the 23rd is officially the first Tuesday of Summer and with the previous trailer launching on a Tuesday, some fans are hopeful. Of course, not all fans share this blind devotion to a particular date. One Redditor summed it up well by saying:
We don‘t know nothing Bro. Yeah, Strauss said that Marketing starts in Summer. And the astronomical start of Summer is the 21st. But don‘t take it THAT literally. They could start it tomorrow (although the 21st hasn‘t arrived yet, but we‘re close). It could also start in late August. Or later. Or in July. You see? Let‘s just wait. 5 months until release. We‘ll get a ton of stuff in the next few months.
While another is certain that June 23rd is completely wrong. They said the following:
Yep but there won’t be any news till the end of July. The FIFA World Cup runs till 19th of July. It’s nonsense to start with GTA 6 marketing during the tournament because attention is drawn away from it world wide. I will bet my money on Take Two for the last July or first week of August. That’s the highest probability for trailer 3 and pre orders. Starting from August you won’t read anything else than GTA 6 news
Truthfully, nobody outside of Rockstar Games and Take-two Interactive really know when the next batch of new content will drop for Grand Theft Auto VI. With Strauss stating the marketing will start in the Summer, the door is very wide open as to when the next trailer might drop. One thing is clear though, the run-up to launch is bound to be interesting.
Games like Red Dead Redemption 3 feel very far away with all hands on deck working on this year’s most anticipated game of all time. Whether we get a fresh glimpse at Grand Theft Auto VI on June 23 or not, excitement for the confirmed launch on November 19, 2026, will continue to grow as the summer days tick by. Hopefully, we will see more content sooner rather than later.
With Grand Theft Auto VI launching later this year and games like Hogwarts Legacy 2 being closer to launch than you think, it feels like a pretty good time to be a gamer. That said, another fresh glimpse at some GTA content would go a long way to quelling our thirst leading up to November. Hopefully the June 23 theory is correct.
