Cyberpunk 2077 fans probably have quite a long wait in store for the official Project Orion sequel, despite recent reports that the development team on the project at CD Projekt Red has grown in recent months. While the studio is clearly balancing multiple projects at the moment, much of the focus is on The Witcher, with The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past, The Witcher 4, and a Witcher 1 remake all being major priorities.
With official new DLC and content updates more or less finished for Cyberpunk 2077 after the surprise Update 2.3 last year, fans are officially buckled in for the long haul when it comes to new content. That said, there was a major unexpected announcement at this weekend’s Summer Game Fest that you may have missed amidst all the other exciting news across the gaming-sphere, and Cyberpunk 2077 fans can claim an official free download for a limited time (via X).
After an exciting and unexpected announcement over the weekend’s festivities, Cyberpunk 2077 got a surprise DLC announcement in the form of a new Wuthering Waves Version 3.4 crossover collaboration with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Starting today, June 8, 2026, gamers can officially claim the new Rebecca 5-Star Resonator for free as part of the newest Wuthering Waves ongoing live-service content update.
If you didn’t know, Wuthering Waves is a free-to-play open-world action RPG set in a post-apocalyptic world where players take on the role of Rover and recruit powerful allies called Resonators. There are actually two new Resonator additions in the Cyberpunk crossover update, Lucy and Rebecca, with Rebecca officially free to claim now.
Rebecca and Lucy are beloved Cyberpunk: Edgerunners characters from the hit 2022 Netflix anime, and hardcore fans of the franchise may want to give Wuthering Waves a try if not just to see their triumphant return. The new update is live now, with exciting new Cyberpunk 2077 content waiting for chooms worldwide.
With official new Cyberpunk 2077 content becoming an increasingly rare commodity, the new Wuthering Waves crossover collaboration with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is a great nod to fans of both franchises, and is sure to bring in a wave of new players to the free-to-play sci-fi RPG.
