Anya Taylor-Joy’s Sci-Fi Horror Gem Climbs the Charts on Apple TV Ahead of New Limited Series

Anya Taylor-Joy is one of the most popular actresses of her generation, set to star in the upcoming Apple TV crime thriller Lucky, which debuts in just one month. And ahead of her TV return, her 2025 sci-fi horror gem is rising on streaming.

Per FlixPatrol, The Gorge is currently the No. 3 most-watched movie on Apple TV worldwide. The film is a hit in countries like Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, and Germany. In the United States, the sci-fi romance horror is also among the Top 10 movies, holding the No. 3 spot, and it even peaked at No. 1 in France.

The Gorge Is a Unique Blend of Genres

The Gorge is a sci-fi horror with a love story at its core, blending multiple genres for a unique film. The story follows two highly skilled snipers, Levi and Drasa, who are tasked with guarding opposite sides of a dangerous gorge for a year. They are also forbidden from communicating with the outside world or with each other.

But as time goes by, Levi and Drasa eventually find a way to talk and develop a bond. The star-crossed lovers’ romance is at the center of the story, and it drives the plot as they take risks to spend time together. The sci-fi and horror elements kick in once they accidentally venture inside the gorge.

The Gorge stars Anya Taylor-Joy as Drasa and Miles Teller as Levi. Sigourney Weaver also stars in the film as Bartholomew, who tasks Levi with guarding his side of the gorge. The sci-fi romance horror was directed by Scott Derrickson, known for his work in the horror genre, including The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Sinister, and The Black Phone.

The Gorge received mixed reviews but has remained among the most-watched movies on Apple TV since its release. On Rotten Tomatoes, it holds a 62% Tomatometer score based on critics’ reviews, but a more positive 74% Popcornmeter score based on audiences’ reviews. And with Anya Taylor-Joy returning to television in an Apple TV limited series, The Gorge is rising again.

Lucky is an upcoming crime thriller limited series set to debut on Apple TV on July 15, 2026. This would mark Anya Taylor-Joy’s return to television since her critically acclaimed role as Beth Harmon in The Queen’s Gambit. Lucky will also star Timothy Olyphant, Annette Bening, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, with Reese Witherspoon serving as one of the producers through her media company, Hello Sunshine.

Lucky is based on the 2021 novel of the same name, written by Marissa Stapley. The book was December 2021’s pick for Reese’s Book Club, making it an international hit. Lucky follows the titular character, Luciana “Lucky” Armstrong, who has only known a life of crime. Her latest heist makes her a wanted fugitive, and she must go on the run.

Lucky’s trailer was released on June 3, and it promised an action-packed crime thriller. The limited series is one of the most anticipated releases of 2026 and might even become one of the best book adaptations of the 2020s. And in the meantime, Anya Taylor-Joy’s other Apple TV project, The Gorge, continues to rise on streaming.

The Gorge is available to stream on Apple TV.
