New Game Of Thrones 2026 Release Officially Rewrites Show’s Ending

We all remember the fateful day that we all sat down to watch the Game of Thrones finale, after watching for eight years, and being met with… well, that. With Daenerys dead to her uncle/lover, Bran the Boring on the throne, and whatever else happened because I have deleted the rest of it from my brain, fans were left disappointed with the turn of events and matters have still not improved, with George R.R. Martin withholding the final book in the A Song of Ice and Fire saga, Winds of Winter.

With not even the book to read in the hopes that it would rewrite the ending created by Game of Thrones’ show writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, we have been stuck in limbo since the finale aired back in May 2019. However, a brand-new release may just rewrite history by offering away from the show’s established lore.

The release in question is Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, an upcoming real-time strategy game set in the kingdom of Westeros. Set to launch later this year and developed and published by PlaySide, players will be able to embark in either solo-play or multiplayer chaos as they fight to conquer the various corners of Westeros. It will be up to you to command the Great Houses, rally some iconic heroes, and rewrite the very tales that we once had to suffer through. Will you have what it takes to sit upon the Iron Throne?

In Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, you will take part in free-for-all battles “where trust is fleeting and power is everything.” As such, it will be up to you how you approach each battle, as well as deciding who to trust to fight alongside you, and maybe who to deceive in your thirst for power. With the armies of House Stark, House Targaryen, and House Lannister yours to command, you may even decide to turn the tides by recruiting the Night King and his undead army to your side.

In war, you will deploy infantry, cavalry, siege engines, giants, and even dragons to defend your banners, but it will be up to you to outplay your rivals by making use of hero abilities and always staying one step ahead. In Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, you can re-envision some of the show’s most iconic battles, either turning them in your favor or against you. After all, you are all vying for the Iron Throne and the Iron Throne itself must accept you.

It may not have a release date just yet, but Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is definitely one to add to your wishlist, especially if you wish to see some of Game of Thrones’ most iconic storylines rewritten forever.
