5 Times Anakin Skywalker Proved He Was the Chosen One in Star Wars

Being the Chosen One is no easy job, and Anakin Skywalker struggled with that in the Star Wars universe. He displayed great power from the start, and even still, many doubted whether he truly was the Chosen One.

Even still, there were many times that Anakin showed those around him and the audience why he was considered the Chosen One. From a child to his time as Darth Vader, Anakin was always special, and it’s something that could never be underestimated.

Idealistic, determined, and driven by love and justice. You believe in people even when they don’t believe in themselves, and you’d sacrifice everything for what’s right. You lead with your heart, trust your instincts, and refuse to give up on anyone — including your enemies.

Independent, charming, and fiercely loyal beneath a tough exterior. You live on your own terms and show up when it matters most, even if you’d never admit you care. You don’t follow rules — you make calculated bets on your own judgment, and you have an uncanny knack for finding a way through.

A natural leader with iron resolve. Strategic, outspoken, and utterly unintimidated by power — you fight not for glory but for lasting justice. You carry responsibility with grace, but there is iron beneath it. You inspire others not through speeches alone, but through the example of your own unwavering resolve.

Disciplined, intense, and deeply complex. You believe in order and commit absolutely to your path. You have high standards — for yourself first, then others — and little patience for weakness. Beneath the formidable exterior burns something deeply human: old loyalties, buried wounds, a past that still shapes every decision.

Wise, patient, and perceptive. You lead with stillness and insight, seeing clearly where others panic. You are the voice of reason in a chaotic room — you don’t need to be the loudest because when you speak, people listen. Your greatest power is not what you can do alone, but what you awaken in others.

Anakin’s victory showed just how strong in the Force he was and also established his resourcefulness and potential. Anakin beat sabotage and maneuvered his way from the back of the pack to the front, and the whole time he kept a cool head; just as a Chosen One should.

Destroying the Droid Control Ship Showed Anakin’s Bravery

The Phantom Menace was the first time Anakin was introduced in the Star Wars timeline, and at 10 years old, showed great promise. To reclaim Naboo from the Trade Federation, Padmé and her allies had to take it by force, and Anakin got caught up, trapped in an N-1 Starfighter.

In the battle to destroy the Droid Control Ship over the planet, Anakin found himself on the inside and destroyed it, running the gauntlet of the semi-circular ship. This moment showed his bravery at a young age and why he was the perfect choice to be the Chosen One.

Overpowering the Gods of Mortis Teased Anakin’s Strength

One of the most surreal moments in Star Wars was the “Gods of Mortis” arc in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. When Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka enter the realm of Mortis, they encounter the Father, the Son, and the Daughter. The Father represents the balance of light and dark and seeks Anakin to replace him and maintain balance.

This arc solidified that there was no reason to doubt Anakin’s standing as the Chosen One, and it was further proven when his power alone forced the Son and Daughter to their knees at the same time. With the Clone Wars, Anakin never got the chance to hone his raw potential, but the Ghosts of Mortis arc showed just how impressive he was.

Anakin Showed Love to Those He Cared For and His Duty

Being the Chosen One and bringing balance to the Force means that the person saddled with the responsibility has to show balance in all things. As a child, Anakin always showed love for those he cared about, from his mother, Shmi, to his wife, Padmé. By showing love and still being a strong Jedi, he proved that he could balance both lives even if the Jedi banned attachments.

His apprentice, Ahsoka Tano, was also someone he cared for, and when she was framed for a terror attack, he saw the flaws in the Jedi as he did his best to fight for her. His love and ability to still be a strong Jedi proved that attachments and balance could be a thing, but it was the Jedi system that failed him.

Darth Vader Killing the Emperor and Restoring Balance Completed the Prophecy

When Anakin fell to the Dark Side, it made perfect sense to think that he was no longer the Chosen One, and it was Luke, as he failed in his mission to bring balance. But his descent was only the end of one chapter, as his true purpose came in Return of the Jedi.

As Luke chose not to strike down Darth Vader after a heated battle, the Emperor chose to kill him, sending lightning into his body relentlessly as Luke begged for his father’s help. Vader’s final act was as Anakin when he killed the Emperor and finally brought balance to the Force by vanquishing absolute evil and proving he was always the Chosen One.
