In the original Transformers series, Optimus Prime had a trailer when he was in vehicle mode, which he used to store Roller and his combat deck. Now, Entertainment Earth has dropped a new Robosen Elite Optimus Prime Trailer Kit that brings the most iconic version of the Autobot to life.
This new kit is truly impressive and designed to work with the Optimus Prime animatronic from Robosen, featuring voice acting by Peter Cullen. The trailer works with the animatronic’s vehicle mode and is a major upgrade to one of the best Transformers toys on the market. It’s the kind of collectible that Transformers Generation 1 fans have been waiting on for decades.
Optimus Prime Officially Gets Major Upgrade From Robosen
Intended to pair with the Robosen Elite Optimus Prime action figure, the Robosen Elite Optimus Prime Trailer Kit is also based on the toy and cartoon design for the iconic Autobot leader. In this regard, it connects with his truck cab alternate mode, along with having other forms besides its trailer state.
Like with Optimus Prime’s original toy, the trailer can turn into a command base and a battle deck, with the latter essentially being the other form from a different angle. These ideas were never really seen in the classic 1984 Transformers cartoon, but the toy was known for it, with the idea of Prime piloting his trailer as a battle station also being seen in the anime Transformers: Armada.
There’s also LED lights along the inside of the trailer, and in its alternate forms, a cannon rises for Prime to use in battle. Fans will also spot one element related to the trailer that actually was in the classic cartoon: the rover drone Roller, who also comes in the Robosen version.
Prime, his trailer and Roller can be controlled through an app, allowing the animated series to come to life like never before. Also included is a small figure of Spike Witwicky, the Autobots’ human ally in the G1 cartoon, and he can be housed in the trailer or the cab of Prime’s truck mode.
The trailer itself has numerous servo motors, microchips, and over 2000 parts, making it as hi-tech as if it were actually from Cybertron. This is how it can be automated to move and transform on its own, just like the corresponding figure of Optimus Prime himself.
The Transformers Optimus Prime Trailer Kit is now available to pre-order from Entertainment Earth for $999 and will be shipped out in July 2026, so fans won’t have to wait for the trailer much longer. There’s still something of a deadline, however, as it’s limited to North America and will only have 2,500 units produced.
With the new trailer, fans can recreate the iconic scene of Prime transforming and launching away from this vehicle mode component in The Transformers: The Movie, with that film now turning 40 years old.
