President Donald Trump has digitally signed the memorandum of understanding with Iran while at dinner in Versailles with French President Emmanuel Macron, a U.S. official told MS NOW.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has also digitally signed the memo, The New York Times reported, citing Iranian state media.
The agreement between the United States and Iran establishes a framework for negotiations aimed at permanently ending the conflict, which began when Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu directed a joint attack on Iran on Feb. 28.
It is unclear whether officials will still hold a formal signing ceremony, which was expected to take place in Switzerland on Friday. The U.S. official did not respond to MS NOW’s questions on whether the formal signing will take place or if an official document of the agreement will be released to the public.
