Transformers Prime’s Optimus Prime Officially Returns After 16 Years

During the 2010s, the Transformers franchise was defined by the amorphous canon of the Aligned Continuity. Now, this fan-favorite universe is being revisited through a new toy for its incarnation of an iconic Autobot leader.

Action Edition 06 Transformers Prime Optimus Prime is based on the character’s appearance in the Transformers: Prime cartoon, with this kit figure having the utmost in cartoon accuracy. Loaded with articulation and accessories, it’s a grade above the company’s usual collectibles and a must-have for Aligned Continuity nostalgia. Now available to order, the first shipment has already sold out, with more of these Autobot toys rolling out soon.

Transformers Revives Fan-Favorite Animated Optimus Prime in New First Look

The new Action Edition 06 Transformers Prime Optimus Prime model kit looks straight out of Transformers: Prime, accurately recreating his robot mode in ways that aren’t quite possible in traditional transforming toys. His weapons, features and accessories are numerous, all aimed at bringing various elements of the cartoon to life.

Along with two face options (one with his faceplate and one without) and interchangeable hands, he also has two arm blades and arm cannons, with the latter based on the character’s usual Ion Blaster weapon. Another interchangeable part is his shoulder armor, which can be replaced with one bearing a Decepticon insignia instead of an Autobot insignia (based on the storyline in which an amnesiac Orion Pax temporarily became a Decepticon). Another weapon is the Star Saber, which comes in both a normal version and a blue, “energized” iteration.

Collectors can open Prime’s chest to reveal the Autobot Matrix of Leadership, with the chest and eyes of the figure lighting up thanks to LEDs. The articulation is extensive, and the figure itself stands at 7″ in height when assembled. Finally, there’s an alternate chest window that further goes with the LED lights.

Currently available to order on the Blokees website for $39.99 USD, the next wave of this figure will ship in the first week of July. Running from 2010 to 2013, Transformers: Prime was perhaps the most notable manifestation of the Aligned Continuity besides the Transformers: War for Cybertron and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron video games.

These works all existed amorphously within the same overall continuity, with the key being that said canon fluctuated with each entry to avoid the frequent rebranding seen during the franchise’s changes in the 2000s. Voiced by Generation 1 actor Optimus Prime, Aligned Continuity Optimus Prime has seen several toys throughout the years, with the new Blokees model kit being the latest of these.
