Tom Holland Gives Honest Review of Spider-Man: Brand New Day

After a five-year wait, Tom Holland’s fourth Spider-Man movie will be released next month. To drum up some early hype for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the actor shared his honest review of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe installment.

Holland’s Brand New Day review was revealed during his recent interview with Esquire. With three well-received Spider-Man movies already under his belt, the stakes have never felt higher for Brand New Day. Luckily for fans, it seems that Holland, Marvel, and Sony worked hard to make sure that the upcoming sequel was the best Spider-Man yet.

Brand New Day Is the Best MCU Spider-Man Movie

“The movie is already the best Spider-Man movie that we’ve ever made,” Holland shared. Despite this, the actor is currently working on reshoots for the movie, which he explained is being done solely to add in more jokes and weave together an intricate villain plotline.

“This movie is a real mystery and for a large portion of the film, even Spider-Man is a little bit at odds and lost and is like, ‘What is going on?’ We’re just trying to find ways to make this movie feel like a detective movie,” Holland added.

The first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day certainly gave off a mystery vibe. Not only is Peter Parker trying to figure out what is going on with his DNA, leading him to seek out Dr. Bruce Banner for assistance, but there’s a new villain who seems to have the power of controlling people’s minds.

The new synopsis for Brand New Day also sheds a bit of light on this mysterious antagonist, who is described as “a powerful villain no one can even see.”

Destin Daniel Cretton directed the superhero sequel, succeeding Jon Watts, who helmed the first Spider-Man trilogy. Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers returned to write the screenplay, which was later rewritten by Justin Kuritzkes and Cretton.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is slated to hit theaters on July 31, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
