Attack on Titan Unveils Glorious New Mikasa Design For 15th Anniversary

Even though Attack on Titan concluded its anime adaptation in 2023, the franchise continues to find new ways to captivate fans. This week, Studio MAPPA revealed a stunning new illustration centered on Mikasa Ackerman as part of its ongoing 15th anniversary celebration, giving longtime viewers a heartfelt return to one of the series’ most emotional locations.

The artwork, via @MAPPA_info on X, serves as the second key visual released for MAPPA’s anniversary project and revisits the aftermath of Attack on Titan: The Final Season. Rather than focusing on battles, Titans, or war, the image highlights Mikasa’s enduring connection to Eren Yeager, delivering a peaceful yet deeply emotional scene that has already become a talking point among fans.

A Beautiful New Look at Mikasa’s Final Journey

The newly unveiled poster depicts Mikasa walking toward the iconic tree where Eren was laid to rest following the end of the Rumbling. Bathed in warm sunlight and surrounded by colorful flowers, the scene captures a sense of remembrance and healing that contrasts sharply with the series’ often brutal tone.

What makes the visual especially stunning is its emphasis on hope and tranquility. Mikasa is shown alone on a winding path leading toward the towering tree, while flower petals drift through the air. The composition recalls the final moments of the anime while presenting them through a more uplifting and reflective lens.

The illustration was created by several key members of MAPPA’s Attack on Titan production team. Chief director Yuichiro Hayashi handled the layout, while character designer Tomohiro Kishi provided the artwork. Digital paint was completed by Iku Onishi, background art by Yumena Ohama, and compositing by Yusuke Awana, bringing together many of the creative talents responsible for the anime’s final chapters.

MAPPA’s Anniversary Celebration Puts Attack on Titan Front and Center

The poster arrives as part of MAPPA’s 15th anniversary festivities, which officially begin on June 19. The studio has been releasing special anniversary visuals highlighting some of its most influential productions, and Attack on Titan was chosen as one of the centerpiece franchises despite the story having already reached its conclusion.

The timing matters because Attack on Titan remains one of MAPPA’s most recognizable projects. After taking over production from Wit Studio for the fourth and final season, MAPPA guided the series through its most ambitious arcs, including the Marley storyline, the Rumbling, and the emotional finale that brought Eren’s journey to an end.

Attack On Titan Officially Returns With A Brand-New Story

After finishing the run of the anime several years ago, Attack on Titan is making a surprise return this year with a new story for the series’ fans.

While there has been no announcement of a sequel series, the new artwork demonstrates that the franchise remains a major part of MAPPA’s identity. Fans continue to speculate about future projects set in Hajime Isayama’s universe, especially after the release of the Attack on Titan: Bad Boy story that expanded Levi Ackerman’s past. For now, however, the anniversary visual stands as a celebration of the series’ legacy and of Mikasa, whose final farewell to Eren remains one of anime’s most unforgettable moments.

With more anniversary reveals still planned, MAPPA has already confirmed that a third key visual is on the way. Yet for many fans, this breathtaking Mikasa poster may prove difficult to top, offering a big reminder of why Attack on Titan continues to stick years after its ending.
