A brand-new adventure set in the universe of The Walking Dead has just been officially revealed, and fans of the franchise may not want to miss out on this expansion to the series. The scope of the franchise has significantly grown, especially after the success of the TV show adaptation of the comics. Since then, we’ve seen games like the fan-favorite saga by Telltale, as well as spin-offs. Right now, the rights to The Walking Dead are for sale, and depending on which company purchases them, we may see more shows soon.
Before that happens, however, a new entry in the series is to be released, expanding the franchise further with more possibilities for fans to explore. As presented by publisher Trailmark Games and AMC in a press release, a new game set in the universe of The Walking Dead has been officially announced, and it will be released soon. The game is being developed by Odaclick Game Studio, the developer behind The Karate Kid: Street Rumble, released in 2024.
The new The Walking Dead game is called The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival. This is a brand-new single-player beat-’em-up game set in the same universe as the show and the comics, featuring iconic characters from the franchise. The title promises to bring a modern take to the classic genre, possibly to the likes of Marvel Cosmic Invasion and Streets of Rage 4, for instance.
The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival will take place during the All-Out War story arc from the TV show, where Rick and his allies fight against the forces of Negan and his Saviors – one of the most tense arcs in the entire timeline for The Walking Dead. Players will be able to visit iconic locations, including Alexandria, and face walkers with characters seen in their shows and their weapons.
The game’s characters will be presented in retro pixel-art visuals, overlapping dynamic set pieces. There will also be story-driven moments that will help push the story forward as you make your way through the hordes of walkers – and the living. There’s a nice variety of powerful characters from The Walking Dead to choose from, like Rick, Michonne, Daryl, and more, each with their own set of combat abilities.
Players can also expect boss fights, fan-favorite walkers, and more. The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival will be released for PC (via Steam), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. The title does not yet have a release date, but you can already try out a free demo for this new The Walking Dead game on Steam.
