The Walking Dead Officially Returning To Fan-Favorite Era For New Release

The Walking Dead exploded in popularity almost overnight after the first season of the TV show aired. It was wild to see tons of extended family members watching a zombie show, but that was the extent of the series’ reach at its height.

While many fans fell off around the end of Season 6, others stuck it out, and it lasted 11 seasons and spawned multiple spin-offs. In fact, the TV shows are still going on, with The Walking Dead and Daryl Dixon set to debut the fourth and final season. If you’re mostly just big on the mainline show, you might want to check out this upcoming project.Over on YouTube, fans got a glimpse of the return of a fan-favorite era of the story.

The Walking Dead: Streets Of Survival Is Coming

The Walking Dead: Streets of Survival has just been announced by Trailmark Games. You’ll play Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, and, as you partake in a “re-imagining of the All Out War arc” from the comics and TV show.

In this arcade brawler, you’ll take down the Saviors with the aforementioned trio, as well as Walkers. The release date hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s coming “soon” to PC, PS5, Switch 1/2, and Xbox Series X/S. If you’re interested, there’s a demo you can play now on Steam during Next Fest.

Some fans are already taking to it, with one noting: “Seeing this makes me want a Walking Dead game in the style of Stardew Valley, where you build your own camp and keep away the threats.” Another writes: “Now this is a Walking Dead game I think I can pretty much look forward to. A nice different take in the series too.”

Funnily enough, multiple fans are asking for a State of Decay-like game with The Walking Dead license, and it makes too much sense. You could go on the road and explore multiple settlements, interacting with characters from the source material in a new and innovative way.

Instead, teams typically adapt smaller aspects of the show, which are hit-and-miss for fans. Hopefully, Streets of Survival works out in the end.

Although the Governor was the main baddie for a while in The Walking Dead, that role was swiftly taken over by Negan, who would last the entire series. Thanks to a spirited performance by Jeffrey Dead Morgan in the AMC TV show, Negan has become a mainstay of the series, and even co-headlines a spinoff with Maggie in the form of Dead City, which is also about to welcome in another season premiere.

Because of that popularity, the “All Out War” arc from the comic (and Season 8 of the show) is still very in demand, as Rick Grimes’ Militia goes up against Negan’s Saviors. It’s one of the biggest conflicts of the series, and it’s fertile ground for an interactive medium like gaming.

Even though the last season of the core The Walking Dead show has wrapped, this series just can’t stay dead. Expect many more adaptations across multiple formats for years to come.
