The project is currently untitled, and no further details on the movie have been announced. The placeholder name is “Event Film,” and will be developed with the Duffer Brothers directing from their own script.
Last year, it was announced that the Duffer Brothers would be leaving their beloved Netflix home and head to Paramount after signing a four-year exclusive film, TV and streaming deal. The news came after Paramount merged with Skydance, making David Ellison the CEO, as he began planning to make the studio a major destination for top talent as well as aiming to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery.
The Duffers are now a hot commodity following the unmatched success of Stranger Things. The series generated over $1 billion in streaming revenue and $1.4 billion in U.S. revenue. It also led to spinoffs, merchandise, live events, a Broadway production, and enticed millions to subscribe to Netflix during the series’ run.
