Steam is officially releasing tons of free downloads for everyone, but players will only have until June 22 to grab and play these games. Free titles are always an option on the platform, and you can certainly find something to fit your needs. For instance, you have the chance to grab a hit single-player game for free on Steam, but you’ll need to do so before June 18, when the 100% discount offer comes to an end. If this particular game doesn’t appeal to you, fret not.
Starting today, June 15, until June 22, Steam is hosting a new event that will feature tons of games for players to check out entirely for free. As was announced on an official post on Steam, this event will feature several free demo options for players, allowing them to play a portion of many different games entirely for free. All you’ll have to do is look out for games that seem interesting to you, download their demos, and play them before the event comes to a close.
This is the next iteration of the Steam Next Fest, an event centered around offering players a chance to check out demos for free on Steam, many of which are for games that haven’t even been released yet. You’ll find demos for smaller indie games that will be released soon, as well as larger titles that will offer a glimpse of what the final, extended versions will offer once they arrive.
The Next Fest is starting right at the end of the Bullet Fest event on Steam, which was focused on bullet hell games and the variations within the genre. Now, players will have a much larger number of options to pick from, from RPGs to narrative-driven adventures, racing titles, roguelikes, and much more. This is the big chance that players get to test upcoming games and keep them on their radar.
The idea behind the Steam Next Fest is that players try out games and, if they enjoy them, add them to their wishlist, which not only helps the respective developers but also helps the players keep up with any news about those wishlisted games. The event will feature games with brand-new demos, as well as titles that already had their demos available, like the stylish metroidvania Lucid on Steam.
Be sure to explore the storefront for Next Fest by June 22, as you’ll certainly find some titles that will please you, even if they are demos. These events on Steam are great stages for several games that would otherwise fly under your radar, and a perfect chance for dozens of hours of gameplay, entirely for free.
