It’s been 15 years since one of the best-selling and beloved RPGs of all time first appeared on our PCs and consoles. The game that made Todd Howard famous for his line “See that mountain? You can climb it.” A game that saw more releases and re-releases across all generations of consoles than any other. In fact, if Todd had his way, we’d probably be playing this one on our Alexa. Yes, it’s the dragon-slaying juggernaut known as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and fans are still discovering secrets in the game to this day.
Sure, there might be many among you who already know this rather morbid secret about Skyrim, but for some (myself included), this is a new and eye-opening way to play that leaves me with chills. Thanks to a Redditor, we’ve discovered that there is a truly gruesome way to take down Briarhearts in the game that might leave you with chills.
The method involves a little bit of stealth. But if you can approach a Forsworn Briarheart without being spotted, and if you’re skillful enough, you should have the option to pickpocket their heart. The result? Well, you gain a heart while your foe meets their maker. Instant death for the horned fiend and the sudden feeling that maybe you’ve crossed a line or two thrown in for good measure.
With their heart beating in their open chest, this pickpocket exploit is a gruesome way to take down one of the most brutal and deadly enemies in the Reach, and we’re all for it. Sure it’s a little heartless (pun intended) but any advantage you can get over these beasts is a plus in our book. It’s also amazing that Skyrim is still offering up secrets and new ways to play to fans all these years later.
Fans on Reddit are often quick with a clap back or quips, but in this case, many are genuinely thankful to learn this dark secret as they’d not known about it before. One such Redditor said the following:
Its been close to 15 years… I’m still learning **** about this game… it never ends does it
While another said:
Played the game for over 10 years off and on….. Never realized the briar heart was IN their chests.
Always thought it was like a vegetable or something, like an artichoke heart hahah
Skyrim really is the game that keeps on giving. It’s amazing to pick up free tips like this in an amazing RPG that helps bring the community together. With The Elder Scrolls 6 still so far away, it’s nice to see that there’s still plenty of life left in a game that first released on the Xbox 360. And with new free DLC releasing for Skyrim through Creation Club, it seems like we’ll never truly be done with this game.
For me personally, The Elder Scrolls 6 can wait. As long as we keep getting huge expansions for Skyrim, along with mods and new discoveries, I’m quite content to keep on playing The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim forever.
