Capcom has just confirmed that Devil May Cry 5 sold 2.7 million copies in the financial year ending March 2026. This means that this most recent financial year was Devil May Cry 5‘s best ever in terms of commercial success, with it surpassing its launch year sales figures by around 600,000 units.
Released all the way back in 2019, Devil May Cry 5 centers around three main playable characters: Dante, Nero, and newcomer V. Released over a decade after the last numbered entry, Devil May Cry 5 was a major hit with critics upon its 2019 launch, with the game earning a Top Critic Average of 88 on OpenCritic, and a recommendation score of 88%. GameRant’s own Dalton Cooper gave Devil May Cry 5 a 10/10 in their review, calling it an “insane, over-the-top, adrenaline-fueled action game” that “never lets up.”

During the most recent Nintendo Direct, Capcom announced that Devil May Cry 5 is heading to Nintendo Switch 2 on June 23. While any Nintendo Switch 2 Devil May Cry 5 sales won’t add to the 2.7 million total of the previous financial year, they could kick off yet another strong sales year for Devil May Cry 5. The release of DMC5‘s physical Nintendo Switch 2 version on August 28 is sure to strengthen those numbers further.
Resident Evil Has Had an Incredibly Strong Financial Year
Devil May Cry 5 isn’t the only success story detailed in Capcom’s updated sales statistics. The most recent Consumer Sales Volume update also shows that last year was an incredibly strong one for the Resident Evil franchise. Resident Evil Requiem is confirmed to have sold 6.9 million units, which is no small feat given that the game was only out for a month before the end of the financial year.
