A newly released life sim on Steam called Tales of Seikyu merges the shapeshifting elements of Pokemon Pokopia with Stardew Valley‘s cozy farming mechanics, creating a very interesting hybrid. While Stardew Valley has long been a staple of the life-sim genre, Pokemon Pokopia is a much newer addition. However, as a spin-off of a world-renowned franchise, it has quickly built an impressive player base.
Unlike Stardew Valley, which is available on nearly every major gaming platform, Pokemon Pokopia is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. As a result, PC players will have to turn to games like Tales of Seikyu if they want a similar experience that blends life simulation with creature-collecting fun.

Tales of Seikyu Has Pokemon Pokopia’s Shapeshifting
In Tales of Seikyu, players can discover transformation scrolls that grant them the ability to take on the forms of mythical, spirit creatures. Each form comes with unique abilities that can be used to manage the farm, battle enemies, and explore the game’s open world. This mechanic should feel familiar to Pokemon Pokopia fans, as that game’s protagonist, a Ditto, can also transform into Pokemon and use their abilities to progress through the adventure.
Tales of Seikyu’s Gameplay Loop Seems Inspired by Stardew Valley
In Stardew Valley, the protagonist moves to Pelican Town after inheriting their late grandfather’s farm. Tales of Seikyu has a somewhat similar plot, with the protagonist uncovering a mysterious connection between their ancestors and the town’s spirits through conversations with their spirits. Beyond these narrative similarities, Tales of Seikyu feels heavily inspired by Stardew Valley thanks to its sandbox gameplay loop, which revolves around farming, fishing, cooking, combat, and resource gathering through mining.

Much like Stardew Valley‘s romance subplots, Tales of Seikyu features an extensive dating system with 20 romanceable NPCs. However, its visual presentation differs significantly from Stardew Valley‘s pixel art style. Tales of Seikyu is best described as having an anime-inspired aesthetic, as its 3D world is populated by character designs that resemble those seen in Japanese animation. Fans of Starsand Island, another Stardew Valley-inspired game with anime-style visuals, will likely find Tales of Seikyu‘s art direction appealing.
Tales of Seikyu normally costs $24.99 USD, but to celebrate the game’s 1.0 launch, developer ACE Entertainment is offering a 30% discount that lowers the price to roughly $17. The promotion is only available for a limited time and ends on June 25. Steam users can also purchase a bundle that includes both Tales of Seikyu and Starsand Island for around $50, making it an appealing option for fans of anime-style cozy life simulation games.
