Today marks the arrival of the last ever Assassin’s Creed Shadows update, Version 1.1.11. Launching at 14:00 UTC / 10:00 AM EST / 7:00 AM PST on 16 June, the update will mark the final major content update for the most recent mainline Assassin’s Creed entry, but players can expect heaps of new additions.
Released back in 2025, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the 14th major installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise and takes players to feudal Japan during the end of the Sengoku period. Following shinobi Naoe and samurai Yasuke, the pair team up to deliver justice to the Templar Order who are responsible for the death of Naoe’s father.
Receiving generally favorable reviews from critics and the general audience alike, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has welcomed multiple updates over the past year, including the arrival of its Claws of Awaji expansion. However, with the launch of Version 1.1.11, players can expect support for the beloved Assassin’s Creed entry to finally come to an end.
That being said, Ubisoft is not going out without a bang and, as such, fans can look forward to tons of new content arriving alongside the 21GB patch. First up, there will be a brand-new story quest which will be added to Assassin’s Creed Shadows for free. Titled Black Tides, the quest will see the arrival of two elite-level Templars known as the “Black Cross.” After being called to Japan to hunt Naoe and Yasuke, our Assassin Order pair must fight to stay alive and also uncover what the Black Cross really seek in a new land.
Fans can also look forward to two new crossover Projects which can be found in the Animus HUB. Called Riptides and Undertow, the Project will allow players to unlock brand-new themed outfits, weapons, trinkets, and more.
“To activate the new Projects, complete Anomalies and progress through the rewards like previously released ones. These include rewards for both Shadows and Black Flag Resynced and can be progressed by completing Anomalies from both games,” the official Ubisoft blog post reads.
Not only that, but a brand-new Animus activity will allow you to try out your building skills as players will be able to tackle five new gaming simulations across 10 challenge levels, all centered around personal domains. “MOD, an Assassin hacker, has created a new type of simulation called “Domains.” These trials are designed to help the Dark Animus users sharpen their combat and survival skills. Those who can rise to the challenge can earn dozens of new and remixed outfits, weapons, trinkets and engravings.”
There is also a new Animus Rift to enjoy, as well as quality-of-life HUB improvements, and the standard bug fixes. Overall, there is heaps of new content arriving to Assassin’s Creed Shadows to enjoy and will see the latest Assassin’s Creed entry go out with a bang, ahead of the launch of both Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced and the next mainline installment, Assassin’s Creed Hexe.
