New Junji Ito x Hello Kitty Statue First-Look Officially Revealed

Junji Ito officially returns this summer with a terrifying new creation blending one of the acclaimed author’s most successful horror masterpieces with Sanrio’s timeless fashion icon, Hello Kitty. According to a report via Essential Japan, Good Smile Company recently revealed the first look at a collectible statue featuring Ito’s terrifying Tomie Kawakami styled in Hello Kitty accessories from head to toe.

The upcoming statue is based on the stylish “Gyaru Tomie x Hello Kitty” design featured in previous releases. Good Smile Company’s collectible Junji Ito x Hello Kitty statue is one of the greatest reveals from the ongoing collaboration, and the thoughtful details binding its striking design are bound to propel the product to best-seller status in no time.

Tomie Gets a Hello Kitty Makeover in New Junji Ito x Sanrio Official Summer Release

Good Smile Company officially revealed a painted prototype of the upcoming Tomie statue featuring Hello Kitty earlier this month. The eerie statue shows a kneeling Tomie adorned in gyaru fashion with adorable Hello Kitty accessories all over in the ultimate collectible crossover.

Inspired by Junji Ito’s captivating horror manga, Tomie’s statue is painted in greyscale, except for pops of red that highlight Hello Kitty’s iconic bows. In addition to the three Hello Kitty charms included on the statue, the Sanrio icon’s signature red bow also appears on Tomie’s backpack, socks and in her hair.

The first look at the new Junji Ito x Hello Kitty collectible statue was recently revealed at the first of two Good Smile Fest 2026 events scheduled in Japan this summer. Tokyo’s Good Smile Fest 2026 took place June 7–8, and the next show, located in Osaka, is scheduled for August 22–23. The full lineup of new Good Smile Company products on display at the limited-time festival is available on the event’s official site.

Tomie, released between 1987 and 2000 at the beginning of Ito’s career, remains one of the horror master’s most popular and recognizable works. The story’s titular monster is an excellent choice for the Sanrio collab because Tomie twists beauty like Hello Kitty’s into something nightmarish. Sanrio’s playful Halloween crossovers pale in comparison to Hello Kitty’s appearance in this spooky collab.

Per Essential Japan’s report, the statue’s development phase suggests that pre-orders for the upcoming Tomie x Hello Kitty collaborative release are only a few weeks away. Collectors who purchased the Tomie Nendoroid, crafted with a similar greyscale design, back in February can finally look forward to product shipments beginning in July.
