My Hero Academia Officially Gives Bakugo an Explosive New Design

The next Bakugo release is set to bring My Hero Academia fans back to one of the most iconic moments from the Final Season.

Kotobukiya has officially unveiled the next sculpture to join the ARTFX J figure line, and it is absolutely stunning. The upcoming Katsuki Bakugo figure showcases the iconic hero in all his explosive glory, with the dynamic pose and tattered costume being ripped right out of one of My Hero Academia: Final Season‘s biggest battles.

The recently revealed prototype for the ARTFX J Bakugo figure from Kotobukiya features some seriously fiery details. The statue was initially unveiled on Kotobukiya’s official social media pages and is set to be showcased at the company’s Akihabara store for a limited time.

Inspired by Bakugo’s epic return in My Hero Academia: Final Season during All Might’s Earth-shattering battle against All For One. Despite suffering what likely should have been lethal injuries, Bakugo was restored to relative health by Edgeshot, which paved the way for him to leap into the fray in the hopes of saving the world all over again.

Although no specific size details for the ARTFX J Bakugo figure from Kotobukiya have been revealed as of yet, the ARTFX J figure series itself is comprised of 1/8 scale sculpts. As such, collectors can expect a fairly sizable piece of merchandise when the figure does make its way into stores, presumably sometime late this year or in early 2027.

Katsuki Bakugo has been a key fixture of the My Hero Academia franchise from the very beginning, with his introduction coming in the very first chapter of the original manga by Kōhei Horikoshi, as well as the first episode of the hit anime series from studio Bones. Introduced as a student in Class 1-A at U.A. High School, Bakugo quickly became a favorite among fans for his breakneck battle style and explosive abilities, even if his brash, arrogant personality didn’t make him the most lovable hero that the series has to offer.

In fact, at the outset of My Hero Academia, Bakugo frequently bullied and berated the then Quirkless Izuku Midoriya. Eventually, Bakugo’s personality began to soften, and he went from being an overtly adversarial figure to one of the greatest allies that Izuku could have ever asked for, especially when staring down threats such as All For One.

In what was easily Bakugo’s greatest moment, he proved capable of standing between All For One and All Might, single-handedly rescuing the iconic hero from his enemy’s clutches. Utilizing his bombastic powers in concert with Deku’s Gearshift, Bakugo launched an assault of All For One that not even the seemingly unstoppable villain could keep up with, providing just the opening he needed to whisk All Might away to safety.
