Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s Season 13 will be released on June 25, marking the end of a short-lived era that started on June 4. Pokemon Legends: Z-A is possibly the most experimental game in the series because not only did it remove abilities and significantly change the move pool of every Pokemon, but it also completely reworked Pokemon battles. Turn-based battles have been a staple in the franchise for as long as it has existed, but Pokemon Legends: Z-A used a real-time battle system with move cooldowns and 4-player matches where it’s all versus all.
The departure from turn-based Pokemon battles was both a blessing and a curse because many longtime fans disliked the shift to a more hectic battle mode, but it was well received by others and some newcomers. Whether this will stay or return to turn-based combat in Pokemon Winds and Waves remains to be seen, but it seems unlikely. As much as Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s Ranked Battles changed the way the game is played, they also became an exciting part of the seasonal loop. Each season changes the meta and the rewards one can get, and the same is happening with Season 13 on June 25.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A’s Mega Dimension DLC brings back multiple Legendary and Mythical Pokemon, and here’s how to catch ’em all.
Season 13 is About to Change Pokemon Legends: Z-A on June 25
- Season 12 ends on June 24, 2026, at 6:59 pm PDT/9:59 pm ET
- Season 13 starts on June 24, 2026, at 11:00 pm PDT/June 25, 2026, at 2:00 am ET
Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s Mega Evolutions have been the biggest appeal of the game since launch, especially in Ranked Battles. Now, Season 13 is going to shake things up quite a bit. In Season 12, players could use all Pokemon with the only restriction being up to two restricted Pokemon per team. This is no longer the case in Season 13, as all Legendary and Mythical Pokemon are not allowed.

Eligible Pokemon in Pokemon Legends: Z-A Season 13
- Lumiose Pokedex: All Pokemon from number 001 to 227
- Hyperspace Pokedex: All Pokemon from number 001 to 112
- Restricted Pokemon: All Legendary and Mythical Pokemon banned
Normally, restricted Pokemon include Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s Mewtwo, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza. In Season 13, however, no Legendaries or Mythicals are allowed, regardless of their restricted status. In fact, the official ruleset for Pokemon Legends: Z-A Season 13, found on Pokemon.com, states that Pokemon numbers 228 to 232 in the Lumiose Pokedex are not eligible, and numbers 113 to 132 in the Hyperspace Pokedex are also banned. The list of banned mons includes:
-
Lumiose Pokedex
- Xerneas
- Yveltal
- Zygarde
- Diancie
- Mewtwo
-
Hyperspace Pokedex
- Heatran
- Volcanion
- Cobalion
- Terrakion
- Virizion
- Keldeo
- Meloetta
- Genesect
- Hoopa
- Marshadow
- Meltan
- Melmetal
- Darkrai
- Latias
- Latios
- Kyogre
- Groudon
- Rayquaza
- Magearna
- Zeraora
Whenever restricted Pokemon are allowed, Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s Kyogre, Groudon, and Xerneas tend to dominate the meta due to their sheer force. However, with all Legendaries and Mythicals banned, battles will be more balanced and, in a way, more interesting.
June 25 is the Start of a New Era in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
Despite this being far from the first time in the game’s lifespan that the various Legendary and Mythical Pokemon in Legends: Z-A have been banned, it begs the question of what’s next. The answer may be a boring “the cycle repeats endlessly,” but Season 8 proved that Pokemon Legends: Z-A can be a whole new game when it wants to, only allowing Pokemon capable of Mega Evolving.

Still, with no new Mega Stones on the line or returning Pokemon being added, barring a hypothetical second DLC while fans wait for Pokemon Winds and Waves‘ late 2027 release, a refresh of the rules for Ranked Battles is something. It could also be a time to experiment with Pokemon Legends: Z-A‘s battle system or collect more Pokemon now available in Pokemon Champions‘ Regulation M-B, such as Mega Staraptor and Mega Malamar.
All Rewards For Pokemon Legends: Z-A Season 13
First, it’s worth noting that Season 13 runs from Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 11:00 pm PDT/Thursday, June 25, at 2 am ET to Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 6:59 pm PDT/9:59 pm ET. During this time, players will be able to rank up from Rank Z all the way to Rank A as usual, and they can expect a refresh of Pokemon Legends: Z-A rewards. For the end of season, applying at the start of Season 13 based on one’s placement in Season 12, these are:
Rank A
- Gold Bottle Cap x3
- Bottle Cap x5
- Seed of Mastery x3
- Big Nugget x1
Rank B to E
- Gold Bottle Cap x2
- Bottle Cap x3
- Seed of Mastery x2
- Nugget x2
Rank F to I
- Gold Bottle Cap x1
- Bottle Cap x2
- Seed of Mastery x1
- Nugget x2
Rank J to M
- Bottle Cap x1
- Seed of Mastery x1
- Nugget x2
Rank N to R
- Seed of Mastery x1
- Nugget x1
Rank S or below
It’s also worth mentioning that players will be able to obtain all the Ranked-exclusive Mega Stoens in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, as well as other rank-up rewards, as they advance through the ranks in Season 13. The rewards are as follows:
- Rank Y – Greninjite
- Rank X – Delphoxite
- Rank W – Chesnaughtite
- Rank V – Baxcalibrite
- Rank U – Sceptilite
- Rank T – Swampertite
- Rank S – Blazikenite
- Rank M – Beast Ball x1
- Rank I – Beast Ball x1
- Rank E – Beast Ball x2
- Rank D – Beast Ball x2
- Rank C – Beast Ball x3
- Rank B – Beast Ball x3
- Rank A – Beast Ball x5
These are one-time rewards for reaching the respective rank, but going from Rank M to Rank A still grants a whopping total of 17 Beast Balls. This is one of the rarest Poke Balls in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and it’s great for shiny hunters who want matching colors for their Pokemon, such as Cobalion, or simply prefer rare Poke Balls. As usual, all this means that players’ Rank will be reset to Rank Z at the start of Season 13, and rewards for the previous season can be claimed by visiting the Ranked Battles page in the Link Play menu.
