James Bond Sequel Officially Gets Title and Release Date Ahead of Reboot

As the James Bond franchise eyes its upcoming reboot under the watch of Amazon MGM Studios, fans have been given a taste of another upcoming adventure from the iconic superspy. This comes as Bond is seeing something of a renaissance with the recent release of the critically acclaimed 007: First Light video game, and Bond 26 begins its casting search for a new franchise leading man.

Before 007’s next blockbuster comes to the silver screen, fans will be able to get their Bond fix in the form of a new book. According to MI6 – The Home of James Bond, Young Bond author Charlie Higson has partnered with Ian Fleming Publications yet again, this time writing his first full-length adult James Bond novel. The new book is set to hit store shelves in September 2026, with pre-orders now live. Not much is known about the upcoming novel, other than that it has been given the title King Zero.

James Bond’s Next Adventure Has Been Confirmed

The official synopsis reads, “Le Chiffre. Dr No. Goldfinger. James Bond has faced them all. But now the world is changing, and even 007 has no idea what’s coming for him…

It starts with a murdered agent in the Saudi desert. Only a traitor could have known enough to bring him down. But even James Bond can’t guess at the secret that was worth killing him to keep.

As Bond follows the trail across the globe, he doesn’t realize the countdown has already begun. And hiding in the shadows is a man with more power than he could ever have imagined.

Prepare for a villain unlike any before. Prepare for KING ZERO.”

At the book’s launch event, Higson told MI6, “It’s very exciting. It is very hard to get people excited about books, so when the publisher goes to this level of effort, it says a lot. There I finally am after over 20 years of toiling in the world of writing James Bond! My first big, full-length Bond novel is coming out, and it’s really exciting to be part of the world of James Bond. It’s something special.”

Meanwhile, there have been some updates coming in for James Bond 26, though it’s still unknown which actor will be the next to take on the mantle of 007. Previously, it was reported that Dune filmmaker Denis Villeneuve will direct the movie, while Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight is penning the script. Several names have been rumored to take on the major role of Bond, from Aaron Taylor-Johnson to Jacob Elordi, but no official announcements have yet been made about the casting.

There have been 25 official James Bond movies released in past years. The most recent installment, No Time to Die, was the fifth and final film to feature Daniel Craig in the role. Other Bond actors include Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan.

King Zero will be released on Sept. 24, 2026, while a release date has not yet been announced for James Bond 26.
