It’s Time To Admit That Gojo Hasn’t Been Jujutsu Kaisen’s Strongest Hero For 5 Years

Jujutsu Kaisen is a cornerstone of modern anime, and behind the series’ overwhelming dominance is one of the most popular characters in anime, Satoru Gojo.

Gojo has it all: he’s charming, confident, and above all, powerful. Since the beginning of the series, he’s been dubbed the strongest Sorcerer of the modern era, and for most of it, there hasn’t been a character strong enough to challenge his reign. Season three of Jujutsu Kaisen changed that.

The Culling Games arc, first published in 2021, debuted a character who is undeniably stronger than the treasure of Jujutsu society. This character is so ridiculously strong that, if he really tried, he’d be able to decimate Satoru Gojo.

Satoru Gojo Has Always Been the Strongest, But…

There are plenty of strong Sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen, but they all pale in comparison to Satoru Gojo. Gojo is so strong that it’s basically a running joke in the series, as the narrator has to constantly remind audiences that while whatever character on screen is strong, Gojo, wherever he is, is stronger.

There’s only been one character in Jujutsu Kaisen that was able to match Gojo’s skill in battle: the Sorcerer Killer himself, Toji Fushiguro. Toji is one of the strongest characters in Jujutsu Kaisen and someone almost perfectly set up to kill Gojo. Somehow, his conquest over Gojo only made the Six Eyes user stronger, and Toji paid for his victory with his life.

Gojo’s 10 Best Jujutsu Kaisen Quotes, Ranked

Never at a loss for words, Jujutsu Kaisen’s Gojo had an exceptional gift of gab. It wasn’t all braggadocio, though, much was quite profound.

There’s no denying Gojo’s prowess. He’s so strong that he was able to kill a Calamity-Level Cursed Spirit just by walking towards it. He’s so ridiculously powerful that Kenjaku, one of the smartest characters in anime, couldn’t think of a way to kill him and instead had to trap him in the Prison Realm.

While Gojo is without an equal, the Culling Games finally introduced someone that can match his ferocity in battle. This character, funnily enough, can’t necessarily control his ability like Gojo, but that doesn’t mean that he couldn’t erase the Limitless Sorcerer if he chose to.

Fumihiko Takaba Is Stronger

Fumihiko Takaba, a Sorcerer granted power through the Culling Games, might have the single strongest Cursed Technique in the entire series, and he has no idea what it is. Comedian is Takaba’s Innate Technique, and it allows him to manifest whatever he thinks is funny. It comes in the form of physical objects, absurd scenarios, or literally anything else that makes him chuckle.

Gojo’s Infinity pushes reality to its limits, but Takaba’s Comedian literally shapes reality to his whim. If he thought it was funny, he could make Gojo’s organs explode or send the Sorcerer to the furthest reaches of outer space. He could also heal any of his wounds in an instant if he thought it would be a good punchline.

Takaba’s strength was shown during his fight against Hazenoki, a Sorcerer who could make parts of his body explode. Hazenoki seemed like a pretty tough opponent, but Takaba didn’t even break a sweat using his newfound ability against his enemy. If Takaba knew what his ability was, he would easily be the strongest character in the franchise.

Jujutsu Kaisen is defined by strong characters. From Sukuna to Yuji to Yuta, there are more than a handful of characters who could challenge Gojo for a spot as the strongest character in the series, but there is no character with as rightful a claim as Fumihiko Takaba.
