Halo 7 Official Teaser Has Gamers Seriously Excited

It’s no secret that the Halo franchise is very much in need of a course correction, as recent games have really stagnated what once made the series so great. Despite that poor recent run of form, it’s still one of the most iconic properties in gaming, and it would be a huge shame if it were to fall by the wayside with a whimper.

The first step in the road to recovery is the upcoming release of Campaign Evolved, the single-player remake of the first game that by all accounts looks pretty brilliant at this stage. After that, it will be up to the next main game in the series to pick up the baton, and if recent updates are to be believed, it has every chance of being a fantastic new effort.

Over on Reddit, one user shared a post via Gfinity Esports, in which eagle-eyed fans have been expecting the online profiles of the new Lead Game Designer for Halo 7, Dan Gniady. In one of them, he shared some of his plans for the series, stating that he is, “giving The Covenant back their bomb.”

If you played through Halo 2 and 3, then you’ll know that the Covenant ended narrative proceedings as a fraction of their former selves, splitting into weaker factions thanks to the actions of the player. This small sentence could see them thrust back into the spotlight, as the most recognizable antagonists in the series to date.

Though it sort of leaves the story from Infinite up in the air, it’s not necessarily a bad idea to return the series to its roots, and responses think it could be the first green shoots of hope.

“I honestly hope the next halo is also a reboot just like Gears of War: E-Day. It’s really needed and stop dragging the story,” one comment read.

While another added, “I hope they focus more on gameplay and go back to the linear style of campaign. I still believe a truly great Halo game can be made. Maybe these new people get it done.”

Whatever 343 does end up doing with the next Halo game, they really do have to get it right if they want to reinvest fans in the future of the franchise. There were arguably fewer, more fanatical communities back in the day, so the potential is there, but the next game really does have to knock it out of the proverbial park.
