Frieza might be the Dragon Ball franchise’s most notorious villain. However, the fandom has always celebrated his evolving new forms.
Now, as the anticipation for the new Dragon Ball Super anime builds, the golden form of the galactic tyrant, which features in it, has officially returned in a new design. Per the official Dragon Ball website, Banpresto’s Solid Edge Works – The Shutsujin – series has revealed a new Golden Frieza figure based on the villain’s appearance during the Tournament of Power arc in Dragon Ball Super.
Standing 6.7 inches tall, the collectible replicates Frieza’s iconic pose in his golden form as he prepares to face off against Super Saiyan Blue Goku in battle. “The divine radiance of the coloring truly befits this golden form and is a must-see,” the official website noted regarding the new release.
Golden Frieza Joins the Sold Edge Works Figure Line
Unlike the S.H. Figuarts series, which utilizes moving joints for poseability, and the GxMateria line, which captures ki attacks using translucent plastic parts, the Solid Edge Works figure line relies on heavier PVC to create denser figures that feel premium quality. The sculpting of the figure is also unique, accurately highlighting Golden Frieza’s muscular form and facial expression. The Shutsujin series also captures the characters in their stances right before they enter the battle.
While the collectible will initially be distributed as a UFO catcher crane game prize in Japan, international collectors will not be left empty-handed. Fans overseas can pre-order the Golden Frieza figure through third-party sites like BigBadToyStore. The figure is priced at roughly US$28.99, with shipments slated to roll out between July and September 2026.
The Golden Frieza form originally debuted in the 2015 theatrical film Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’, later making its television debut in Episode 24 of Dragon Ball Super. Frieza, a mutant prodigy who never had to train before, spent four months rigorously training to unlock his latent potential after learning Goku had grown strong enough to defeat Majin Buu. Frieza consciously chose to color his newly acquired form gold to mock the Super Saiyan aura that previously defeated him.
When this golden form of Frieza debuted in Dragon Ball Super, it made the villain one of the strongest characters in the series, able to overpower both Vegeta and Goku in their Super Saiyan Blue Forms. This was Frieza’s strongest form for a while, until it was later surpassed in the manga by his Black Frieza form just before the series entered its current hiatus.
Interestingly, the Golden Frieza figure release precedes the return of Dragon Ball Superwith a remake, titled Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, which will air in Fall 2026. This remake will be a remastered version of the first two arcs of the original anime adaptation, intended to follow the manga more closely. Meaning, Golden Frieza will make an appearance in this remastered version, making it a great time to own the newly announced figure.
In addition, the anime adaptation of the Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc has been announced and will continue the story from the Tournament of Power arc.
