Every One Piece Supernova, Ranked (By Strength)

The Supernovas are one of the most powerful, and important, groupings in all of One Piece. Made up of the most notorious members of the Worst Generation, save for Blackbeard, the eleven Supernovas first gathered on Sabaody Archipelago prior to the timeskip, and they’ve been shaking the world ever since.

Unlike the Warlords and the Yonko, the power levels of the Supernovas are not at all equal. Some of them, like Luffy and Zoro, are capable of battling against, or even defeating, Emperors and Admirals, while others would likely struggle to defeat a Vice Admiral or Tobiroppo member.

Scratchman Apoo Wound Up Nothing More Than a Henchman to Kaido

Scratchman Apoo is the cockroach of the One Piece Supernovas. Despite being both the weakest of them all, and the worst human being of the lot, he refuses to go down, always finding a way to run away, and live to scheme another day.

Apoo, of course, isn’t a total weakling, with his music-based Devil Fruit powers even allowing him to injure Luffy, after the Straw Hats’ Captain had already completed his Wano training arc. However, that’s the most he was able to do in Wano, as he was clearly outclassed by the majority of the major fighters present, with even the Nine Red Scabbards all seeming like too much for him.

Basil Hawkins Fell in Wano After Abandoning His Dreams

If there’s one man who doesn’t deserve to stand among the Supernovas, it’s Basil Hawkins. While not at the very bottom in terms of strength, he gave up on his dreams and submitted himself fully to Kaido, and there are few greater signs of weakness in the world of One Piece than a lack of will.

Hawkins possesses a truly weird Devil Fruit power that can be tricky to deal with, but his Haki is nothing special. Killer defeated him during the raid on Onigashima and, had Hawkins not been able to use Kid as a hostage, this wouldn’t have been a difficult fight at all.

Capone Bege Demonstrated His Power Throughout Whole Cake Island

Capone Bege heavily benefited as a character from the above-average writing quality of the Whole Cake Island arc, and the extended saga also gave him the chance to establish himself as a powerhouse. While he doesn’t win any major fights, he’s still able to impress with his wildly creative Devil Fruit power.

Sadly, Bege hasn’t done much since Whole Cake Island, and he doesn’t appear to be much of a direct fighter or Haki user. Being able to transform himself into a living fortress is cool, but it’s difficult to imagine him keeping up in a scenario like the rooftop battle against Big Mom and Kaido.

X-Drake Stands Among the Very Strongest Marines

Not only a pirate, but a member of SWORD, X-Drake stands above nearly all other Marines outside the Admirals. He ate the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Allosaurus, an Ancient Zoan-type Devil Fruit and, if there’s one thing modern One Piece has established other than a refusal to ever develop its characters, it’s that Ancient and Mythical Zoan-type fruits are incredibly overpowered.

During the Wano Country Saga, X-Drake battled against a variety of opponents, but sadly didn’t score any huge wins. To no one’s surprise, though, he did at least manage to establish himself as a superior fighter to Apoo, even if he did allow him to get away.

Mad Monk Urouge Successfully Defeated a Yonko Commander

Fans have big expectations for Mad Monk Urogue, as he’s the only one of the Supernovas to have not yet received direct focus. If he’s ever going to be developed, it’s going to be during the story’s endgame, and he’s going to need a whole lot of power in order to keep up on the biggest stage possible.

There’s also the matter of Urouge being one of the only characters in One Piece capable of taking action in the story without Luffy being present. Before the Straw Hats made it to Whole Cake Island, Urouge went there first, and he defeated one of Big Mom’s Sweet Commanders, Charlotte Snack.

Killer Fought on the Rooftop of Onigashima Alongside Luffy and Zoro

The only other non-Captain among the Supernovas besides Zoro, Killer surpassed everyone’s expectations for him during the Wano Country Saga. Not only was he one of the most interesting and sympathetic characters in the arc, but he actually stood his ground alongside Luffy, Zoro, Law, and Kid during their fight against Kaido and Big Mom.

While he lacks a Devil Fruit, Killer is highly capable with his spinning blades, and is strong enough to deal minor damage to Emperor-level opponents. This may not sound too impressive, but it’s still a greater feat than the vast majority of the other Supernovas have ever accomplished in their lives.

Eustass Kid Held His Own and Helped to Defeat Big Mom

In retrospect, Eustass Kid being introduced as the lone Supernova with a bounty higher than Luffy’s is hilarious. In nearly every arc where he fights, Kid is humiliated. He was no match for Kaido, he only defeated Big Mom thanks to Law carrying their team, and he was ultimately one-shot by Shanks.

In fairness, Kid truly is a powerful fighter, with an Awakened magnetism-based Devil Fruit power, and access to all three types of Haki. It’s just that he keeps making himself look bad by challenging Emperors when, really, Yonko commanders, like King and Katakuri, are more his speed.

Jewelry Bonney Has More Raw Power Than Nearly Any Other One Piece Character

With the reveal of the true nature of her Devil Fruit’s power, Jewelry Bonney instantly went from being considered one of the weakest Supernovas to one of the strongest. She has the ability to take on the form of whatever future she can envision for herself, which is an especially potent power in the hands of a deeply religious twelve-year-old.

During the Egghead arc, Bonney demonstrated greater strength than nearly every other character in One Piece upon transforming into Sun God Nika. She may not have been quite as strong as Luffy in this moment, and she couldn’t maintain the form for long, but she was still able to throw down with the Five Elders.

Trafalgar Law Fought Well Against Both Big Mom and Blackbeard

Trafalgar Law has one of the single-most overpowered Devil Fruits in One Piece. With his Opi Opi no Mi, Law can manipulate everything in the “rooms” he creates, and “operate” on the space as he sees fit. Since Awakening his Devil Fruit, even superior Haki hasn’t been enough to bypass Law’s ability.

During the Wano Country Saga, Law was primarily responsible for defeating Big Mom, although he did receive help from Kid, as well as a great deal of luck. Unfortunately for the strongest non-Straw Hat among the Supernovas, his fight against Blackbeard didn’t go quite as well. Even still, Law still possesses the ultimate ability in the One Piece universe: the power to bestow immortality at the cost of his own life.

Roronoa Zoro is Getting Close to Surpassing Dracule Mihawk

If Roronoa Zoro isn’t already the definitive second-strongest Supernova, he will be by the end of the Elbaf arc. Well on his way to achieving his dream of surpassing Mihawk and becoming the world’s strongest swordsman, Zoro has access to all three types of Haki, and has even finally begun to understand his Advanced Conqeuror’s Haki.

Zoro’s most recent notable wins were against King, Kaido’s strongest commander, and Rob Lucci, who’d grown far more powerful since his loss to Luffy at Enies Lobby. If anything will force Zoro to evolve and show his true Conqueror’s strength, it’s the currently ongoing battle against Nerona Imu.

Monkey D. Luffy is Cartoonishly More Powerful Than the Other Supernovas in Gear 5

Most of the Supernovas were always weaker than Monkey D. Luffy, but the gap between him and all the rest has become unclosable. Clearly the other Supernovas’ faults for not being born chosen ones, any hope of someone else becoming Pirate King died the day Luffy ate the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, and became the reincarnation of the god of liberation.

Luffy not only has all three types of Haki, but the Advanced forms of each of them as well. This means that, while the Gear 5 transformation that makes him more powerful than Emperors and Admirals may have low stamina, he’s far from helpless without it. He won’t be making jokes out of Kaido or Kizaru in Gear 4, but he could still handle any other Supernova just by using Snakeman or Boundman.

The cast of One Piece, including Brooke, Nami, Monkey D. Luffy, Sanji, Chopper and Carrot, run together during the Whole Cake Arc of One Piece.
