Dragon Ball Z Officially Returns With A Brand-New Adventure

Dragon Ball Z fans will soon be able to relive the iconic anime through a brand-new adventure. While there hasn’t necessarily been a shortage of Dragon Ball video games through the years, there hasn’t been much in terms of tabletop gaming. Now, thanks to Lynnvander Studios, which has made games based on other popular IPs like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Star Trek, DBZ is getting its own tabletop experience.

The Kickstarter for Dragon Ball Z: The Board Game Saga is launching soon. It’s an officially-licensed product from Akira Toriyama’s Bird Studio and TOEI Animation with Lynnvander and POP Art Games. You can sign up to be notified of when the campaign launches right now, but you’ll have a wait a bit before getting your hands on the new game.

According to the product listing, Dragon Ball Z: The Board Game Saga is for 1 to 4 players, billed as a co-op campaign across the entire anime’s narrative. “Join forces as a team of Z Fighters and battle your way through the epic saga of Dragon Ball Z,” reads the product details over on Kickstarter. “Train, power up, then face off against iconic villains in high-stakes encounters that increase in difficulty as you progress.”

There’s also a screenshot of what’s included in Dragon Ball Z: The Board Game. It shows off a number game pieces and even more cards, including ones of characters like Raditz, Vegeta, and Kid Buu. Perhaps most importantly, there’s also a Kamehameha card visible. You can view the official image below:

Overall, this seems like a cool product. For those of us who’ve been waiting for an official Dragon Ball Z tabletop RPG, this seems pretty darn close. And the cards should make nice collectibles as well. Coming just a week after the reveal of Dragon Quest 12: Beyond Dreams, it’s been a pretty nice time for fans of Akira Toriyama, who sadly passed away in 2024.

Right now, there’s no listed release date for Dragon Ball Z: The Board Game Saga, but considering the Kickstarter is getting ready to launch, it hopefully won’t be too long before fans can get to experience the game for themselves. In the meantime, you can head over to the official website for Lynnvander Studios and check out some of the company’s other products, which includes games for Naruto, Terminator, Red Sonja, and Cowboy Bebop in addition to this upcoming Dragon Ball Z release.
