Developed and published by Gameplay Group International, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game will drop players into the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender for what is somehow the long-running franchise’s very first proper fighting game experience. Set to be released for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Switch 2 and PC, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game will pave the way for players of every ilk to dive in and face off against their favorite characters from both Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra.

The official description for Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game from Gameplay Group International reads, “Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is a fighter rooted in the spirit of elemental mastery. Designed for both newcomers and veterans, it channels the energy of classic fighting games while breaking new ground in movement, style, and combat expression.”

“Built with a focus on fluidity, responsiveness, and online integrity, the game invites players to discover what it truly means to fight with purpose,” the official game description continues. “Hand-drawn in 2D, it is crafted to preserve the style and expressive animation of the original series.”

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game will reportedly feature at least a dozen playable characters at launch, including Avatar Aang and Avatar Korra, Azula, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, and Toph. Much of the gameplay will revolve around movement-based combat mechanics that make up the title’s unique “Flow System.” Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game will offer single-player Training, Arcade, and Story Mode experiences, as well as the chance to compete in regularly scheduled seasons that will eventually introduce new content to the game.

Of course, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game isn’t the only hotly anticipated new title gamers are awaiting. Back in December 2025, Avatar Studios Creative Executive Isabella Boettcher and Executive Story Editor Joan Hilty showed off some early concept art for the upcoming AAA Avatar: The Last Airbender title from Paramount Game Studios. “You know, it’s going to be… we have a lot of work to do,” Beottcher noted at the time. “But we’re excited about it, and we want, you know, the fandom to know that there is stuff happening… And we’re doing it right.”

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is currently slated to arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam on July 23, 2026. It is currently available for pre-order on all platforms for $29.99 (Standard Edition) and $49.99 (Deluxe Edition).
