The launch of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced is fast approaching, giving fans the opportunity to dive into a new-and-improved version of the 2013 entry that took us to the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy. As the remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, the sixth major installment in the beloved Ubisoft franchise, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced is set to launch on 9 July for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
With its launch date just around the corner, fans are gearing up to return to the stunning Caribbean waters and, once again, take on the role of assassin, Edward Kenway. With the remake hoping to focus more on more of a solo adventure and character-driven experience as opposed to the previous RPG elements, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced still retains all the magic of the original, despite changes to combat, stealth, parkour, and naval gameplay.
Our very own Ewan Moore was lucky enough to preview Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced just last month, and called it “the same, but mostly better” in his review.
“While I love Black Flag‘s piratical nature, I’ve always thought it struggled to reconcile it fully with the franchise formula, and I’m not sure that Black Flag Resynced will do what the original game couldn’t. Everyone else seems to love it, though, and if you’re in that group, you’ll probably love it again.”
In the meantime, the most recent Assassin’s Creed entry, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, is about to welcome its final major update, titled Version 1.1.11. Alongside multiple new quests, side missions, and weapons, players can also look forward to some crossover cosmetics. This means that whilst Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Naoe and Yasuke will receive skins inspired by assassins past, so too will Edward Kenway in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced.
As showcased over on Twitter/X, we can see that Edward will receive a samurai-inspired outfit when the remake launches next month, and in turn, Naoe and Yasuke will be rewarded with some more pirate-like garb. This is just one example of the crossover cosmetics arriving to Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced, giving a nod to the franchise’s most iconic assassins even years on from their initial introductions.
With Ubisoft set to turn its attention to the launch of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Resynced, as well as continuing its work on the next mainline Assassin’s Creed entry, Assassin’s Creed Hexe, it is an exciting few years ahead for fans.
