Masters of the Universe was a dream come true for anyone who grew up in the ’80s or was a fan of the original animated series. It balanced the fandom and the lore perfectly into a story that got fans wanting even more.
Unfortunately, even as big as Masters of the Universe was, there were many characters that weren’t able to see the light of day. That means that they have to be high on the list to return in a potential sequel.
She-Ra Is Already Teased For a Sequel
When the creators of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe learned of its massive female fanbase, it wasn’t long before She-Ra was created. The sister of Prince Adam, many consider her even better than He-Man in skill and is just as beloved, with her own revival series that released in 2018.
She-Ra was teased to return in the post-credits of Masters of the Universe, and it was a classic tease that got fans excited for the idea of more in the future. While no sequel has been confirmed, seeing her proved that it’s just as much her time as it is Adam’s, and fans can’t wait.
Orko Deserves More Screen Time
Created for the cartoon specifically, Orko is a wizard with a big heart, even if his magic isn’t perfect. Some fans may consider him annoying comic relief, but for children, he was exactly what the show needed. Even when the Masters of the Universe film from the ’80s didn’t have him, audiences felt the gap of his wholesome wisdom and humor.
Orko was teased in a Masters of the Universe post-credits scene, where he spoke to the audience about the film’s lessons, just as he would’ve at the end of an episode. In one scene, it was clear that the sequel needs more Orko sooner rather than later.
Mer-Man Is One of Skeletor’s Most Powerful Minions
Most of Skeletor’s minions are duty-bound to their leader and can’t do much in the way of carving their own path. But in the case of Mer-Man, he has power of his own and his dominion is the sea, making him one of the strongest foes in Eternia.
Mer-Man didn’t make it into the Masters of the Universe film, and with so many characters, it makes sense. To have him appear would mean that he’d have to have a strong storyline to match Skeletor’s, and that alone would make him a fun addition in a future sequel. More than that, he’s one of the most popular enemies in the series who deserves his live-action debut.
Stratos Is an Iconic Ally of Eternia
Similar to Mer-Man, Stratos is an ally of Eternia from a different kingdom than Adam’s. The greatest warrior and leader of Avion, Stratos is one of the most popular allies of Avion. He’s been shown working alongside He-Man and also Ram Man, who appeared in the Masters of the Universe film.
Stratos was the missing piece of the live-action series, and while his absence didn’t hurt the film, it was felt. With Ram Man present, there’s hope that if a sequel is greenlit, their moments can be shared. More than that, it would be a chance to explore the other kingdoms in the franchise that were missing in the film.
Hordak Is Even More Dangerous Than Skeletor
The main villain in She-Ra: Princess of Power, Hordak is the mentor of Skeletor and leader of the Evil Horde. He’s far more ruthless than those he’s trained and more connected to the franchise’s broader lore, appearing in countless iterations of the series over the years.
Hordak is the perfect character to cap off a trilogy and possibly even a franchise-ending-level bad guy. But to not even tease him in the first Masters of the Universe feels strange. Nevertheless, seeing Hordak appear would be a dream come true for the franchise and would be the ultimate threat for the heroes to defeat.
