NetEase’s hit Wuxia aRPG fighting title, Where Winds Meet, has finally made it to Xbox Series X|S consoles, Xbox on PC, and cloud—and it’s absolutely free to play across all these platforms.
As promised during the 2026 Xbox Games Showcase, starting June 9, you can download and experience the fantastical world of Where Winds Meet on your Series X or S console via the Xbox app. The game was already available on PC via Steam and Epic, as well as on PlayStation, Android, and iOS, since 2025, but you can now install it via the Xbox app on PC as well. It’s also on Xbox Cloud Gaming, which players with potato rigs may find useful.
Ever since its initial release last November, Where Winds Meet has drawn over 80 million players worldwide, and now it’s time to add the Xbox community to that mix. In case you’re wondering what the hype is about, the game puts you in the shoes of a young wanderer searching for answers about their mysterious past and, of course, fighting their way through dangers amid shifting alliances and hidden secrets to forge their own legend.
The visuals are mesmerizing, which you’ll realize as soon as you step into the ancient China-inspired landscapes and start exploring the vast open world full of adventures. To top it off, the game has been optimized for Xbox, so expect features like full HDR support and AMD FSR 2 to make the breathtaking scenery pop off even better. Series X players will be able to enjoy 4K upscaling, while Series S players get upscaled resolutions of up to 2K. All this, combined with deep memory optimizations, promises to offer buttery smooth gameplay, no matter what you’re doing.
As you journey through six enormous areas with starkly contrasting environments, you’ll be making use of a unique combat system, heavily inspired by the fantasy and grace of Wuxia martial arts, that lets you create and pick a fighting style of your choice. Not to forget, you can choose from an array of weapons and distinctive martial arts styles—from wielding traditional swords and dual blades to glaives, fans, and even umbrellas. Embark on the story alone, dive in with friends in co-op, or challenge your skills in PvP encounters: It’s your choice.
Besides the Xbox launch, NetEase also announced the game’s third major expansion, giving fans a sneak peek at a host of new experiences that are on the way. The expansion, named Hidden Mountain, is set to go live in July 2026 and will bring a “breathtaking mountainous landscape built with deep, multi-layered 3D verticality” that players are sure to have a blast exploring.
While you don’t need an active Game Pass subscription to play Where Winds Meet on an Xbox platform, having one unlocks exclusive rewards you may not want to miss. If you have Game Pass Ultimate, between June 7 and July 23 (PT), you can claim a useful starter pack, featuring:
