The 2026 FIFA World Cup has hit a fever pitch. I was just in Los Angeles this past weekend for Summer Game Fest and saw hundreds of jerseys adorned by fans, as the championship is set to run from today through July 19.
As a result, tons of promotions are being thrown around, including some in the gaming sphere. In addition to sales, there are also some freebies on offer.
Over on Epic Games, you can pick up some freebies now for the 2026 World Cup. It’s an unexpected promo, but you can take advantage of it now.
Announced this week, Rocket League is currently providing players with tons of freebies, in celebration of the FIFA World Cup.
Here’s what’s on offer: “Suit up for your country. Pick your nation by July 13 at 9 AM PT to claim your free Octane Decal and Title. Then, track your progress on the global leaderboard. The Rocket League x FIFA World Cup 2026 LTE runs through July 20 at 9 AM PT.”
After the tournament is over, you can claim a “World Cup Champion” player title no matter where you ended up, and everyone will get the winning country’s flag, as well as all 47 World Cup decals. If you played for the winning country, you’ll get a gold title variant. Plus, there are challenges that can net you a goal explosion, boost, and universal decal. Oh, and finishing 10 out of the 14 challenges will net you a Hyundai Ioniq 6 Car Body.
It’s quite a bit of free stuff that’s being doled out, and you don’t need to participate to get most of it. In fact, just logging in, making a few choices, then logging out can net you some goodies.
If you’re a lapsed Rocket League player, it might be worth checking in on the game to grab those freebies and play in the updated season 23. There’s a new arena called United Futura (themed after the World Cup), as well as the following quality of life upgrades:
- Custom Training Velocity and Car Pitch, and Local Starting Boost Control
- Ball and Car Speed Graphs
- Streamer Anonymizer
- Hitbox Visualization
- Auto-Skip Goal Replays
- Improved Friend Presence to include score and time remaining
- Goal Scorer’s View in Replays
If you are a fan, the Rocket League World Championship has been confirmed for September 15-20 at Dickies Arena, in Fort Worth, Texas. The last team to take the crown was NRG Esports in 2025, preceded by Team BDS the year prior.
Whether you’re a Rocket League fan or not, you could hop into the free base game and check out some of these bonuses.
