There’s been a lot of buzz lately surrounding what’s next for The Last of Us franchise, especially with season 2 of the HBO show being quite divisive among fans of the original games. Currently, filming for the third season of the show is underway, with a fourth season planned as well, but after some questionable character decisions and major diversions from the source material in the last season, gamers are starting to worry about its future.
Beyond that, there’s talk of how developers at Naughty Dog and director Niel Druckmann will manage a final Part 3 to conclude Ellie’s story, whether that could mean a potential jump in time or a direct sequel where The Last of Us Part 2 left off. While there’s no guarantee Part 3 will happen, Druckmann hasn’t ruled it out, and has even suggested he has ideas for how the story could take shape.
That said, The Last of Us fans will want to mark their calendars for an official new release from Naughty Dog and Prime 1 Studios that’s set to launch in December 2027 (via YouTube).
The Last of Us is making an official return with another incredible new high-end collectible statue from Prime 1 Studios featuring the horrifying Bloater infected enemy from the games and show. This limited-edition 1/4-scale statue is available for pre-order now via Prime 1’s official storefront for $2,399.00 for the Ultimate Deluxe Edition and $1,799.00 for the standard edition, expected to ship between December 2027 and March 2028.
Clearly, this extremely expensive yet absolutely stunning new collectible item is for hardcore fans of the post-apocalyptic franchise, and if you’re thinking of claiming one of your own and want to get your hands on the bonus parts, you’ll want to act fast, as it’s currently listed with “Few spots remaining” on the official storefront.
The Bloater Ultimate edition statue comes with a The Last of Us Part 1-themed base, a door backdrop with LED illumination, two swappable heads (normal and “damaged”), as well as a stand for the extra head. The custom base recreates the epic showdown against the Bloater in the gymnasium, and the LED-lit door is meant to be displayed “behind the statue to recreate the fear Joel and Ellie experienced in that unforgettable encounter.”
This massive Bloater statue stands over two feet tall (65cm) and weighs in at almost 80 pounds, so while it comes with a hefty price tag, you’re absolutely getting a huge bang for your buck. It’s also part of the Real Elite Masterline of collectible statues from Prime 1 Studios, which includes several stunning high-end, top-quality statues. If you’re a serious The Last of Us collector, this Bloater statue is a pricey yet beautifully designed addition that you won’t want to pass up.
