Its sequel is following closely, as Deadline confirmed The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially 2026’s first $1 billion film.
The announcement comes shortly after The Super Mario Galaxy Movie defeated 2025’s A Minecraft Movie at the box office, which had grossed $960.3 million. The sequel is now officially the second-highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time.
