The Apothecary Diaries Officially Returns Today With Exclusive Maomao Reveal

Today is a great day for The Apothecary Diaries fans, who can finally live out their detective dreams alongside Maomao with the official launch of The Apothecary Diaries: Palace Chronicles. The franchise’s first-ever simulation game is now available worldwide through G123, complete with launch rewards and a new promotional video featuring Maomao and Jinshi.

Via a press release from CTW, the new browser-based simulation game launched worldwide through G123 on June 14. Based on the hit anime and light novel series, The Apothecary Diaries: Palace Chronicles allows players to follow Maomao through the Imperial Court and pleasure district as she investigates mysterious incidents, crafts medicines and uncovers new clues. The free-to-play title can be played on smartphones, tablets and PCs without requiring any downloads.

To celebrate the launch, G123 has also released a new promotional video featuring Maomao and Jinshi. The video features Maomao, voiced by Aoi Yuuki, and Jinshi, voiced by Takeo Otsuka, and offers fans a preview of several key features of the game. Both actors are reprising their roles from the anime’s original Japanese cast.

This marks the launch of the first-ever The Apothecary Diaries simulation game, giving fans a new way to experience the franchise beyond the anime, manga and light novels. Rather than simply retelling Maomao’s story, Palace Chronicles places players directly inside the Imperial Court, allowing them to investigate cases, manage resources and interact with many of the series’ most recognizable characters through original gameplay systems.

One of the game’s central features is the original “Medical Office” management system. Players can collect items, upgrade facilities and develop their own medical office through a combination of resource gathering and strategic progression. The title also allows players to recruit familiar characters from the anime, including Jinshi and Gaoshun, to gather herbs that can be cultivated into higher-quality materials for crafting and rewards.

Additional supporting characters, such as Xiaolan and Yinghua, appear as allies who help develop the Medical Office. As part of the game’s launch celebration, players who pre-registered can also claim Xiaolan and other rewards unlocked through the title’s pre-registration campaign.

The game’s launch comes during a major year for The Apothecary Diaries. Following the anime’s second season and a pre-registration campaign that surpassed 200,000 sign-ups, the franchise continues to expand with a third television season scheduled to begin in October 2026 and the series’ first theatrical film arriving in December.

Season 3 will air as a split-cour production, continuing Maomao and Jinshi’s story after the events of the anime’s second season. Together, the projects represent some of the biggest additions to the franchise since the anime first premiered in 2023 and helped introduce millions of viewers to Maomao’s mysteries.

The Apothecary Diaries fans can play The Apothecary Diaries: Palace Chronicles for free now through G123. Seasons 1 and 2 of The Apothecary Diaries anime are available to stream now on Crunchyroll, Hulu and Netflix, depending on the viewer’s location.
