Studio Ghibli Meets Death Stranding In Gorgeous New Game

A gorgeous new game is making a splash on Steam just a week ahead of Steam Next Fest. The fest celebrates new titles coming to the PC gaming platform. Hundreds of games will be announced, receive new trailers and info, and get downloadable demos as part of the Fest, which will last from June 15 until the 22nd.

But if you’re a fan of Studio Ghibli or Death Stranding, you’ll want to visit Steam sooner than that and add this intriguing game to your Wishlist. The game looks like it wil provide a mix of mystery and charm, as you make deliveries in a stunning world—a la Death Stranding and Kiki’s Delivery Service.

The game, titled Into the Wind, is a debut by the 10-person studio Bloom & Gloom Games and is being published by Three Friends (a small group that was also behind publishing the games Romestead, and the upcoming Decrepit).

Into the Wind asks what would happen if you took the delivery-person mechanic from Death Stranding and combined it with the style of a Studio Ghibli film. The result is a charming title about a young delivery man and his sentient transforming bike plane named Ermes. (Yes, you read that right.)

Drive or fly Ermes through the roads and skies of the Santa Rosa islands. Make deliveries, get to know the locals, and deal with sky pirates as you progress toward your real, underlying goal: uncovering the mystery behind your uncle’s disappearance.

Follow your uncle’s path, as he flew into the unknown cloud hovering menacingly above Santa Rosa. Find out what happened to him, and build a life for yourself on the idyllic islands.

The setting of Into the Wind is inspired by the small seaside towns along the Italian Riviera, featuring (as the Steam description reads): “small villages, scenic routes, cafés that overlook the water, people needing their packages delivered, and a suspicious amount of flying pirates.

It also carries the charm and themes from a number of Studio Ghibli films. Ride and fly around making deliveries like in Kiki’s Delivery Service, go on exciting flying missions like in Porco Rosso, and explore the great unknown sky island like in Laputa: Castle in the Sky.

Into the Wind has no release date or window yet. When it does launch, it will be available through Early Access on Steam. Studio Ghibli and Death Stranding fans will want to keep an eye on this one.
