Star Wars Outlaws Was Intended to Have 6 DLCs
Star Wars insider FivesWalker has revealed on X that Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment originally planned for the open-world game Outlaws to have six DLCs. One of these DLCs was going to be a tie-in with the novel Star Wars Outlaws: Low Red Moon, which was released earlier this year. According to the insider, the game was expected to be far more successful than it was, which led to a change in plans to cut down the amount of post-launch support.

Of the alleged six planned DLCs, only two were released: Wild Card and A Pirate’s Fortune. These DLCs brought back fan-favorite Star Wars characters Lando Calrissian and Hondo Ohnaka, but even they were not enough to help turn Outlaws into a financial success. As a result, it’s understandable why Ubisoft would opt not to pursue further DLC, even if it’s disappointing for fans.
Interestingly, FivesWalker also claims that there was a sequel to the game planned, which again was impacted by its lack of success. This lines up with reports from last year, which indicated that a Star Wars Outlaws sequel had been canceled by Ubisoft. However, it’s unclear how far along a sequel ever was in development.

Despite the struggling sales of Star Wars Outlaws, it’s set to be a massive few years in gaming for the galaxy far, far away. XCOM-like strategy game Star Wars: Zero Company and podracing title Galactic Racer are both expected to launch this year, barring any delays. Fate of the Old Republic and the long-awaited KOTOR remake will take gamers back to the Old Republic era upon release. Then, there’s Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi 3, which will round out the trilogy of (so-far) acclaimed titles. And despite being MIA, Star Wars Eclipse is still in development at Quantic Dream. If everything comes to fruition over the next few years, Star Wars fans will have plenty of games to be excited about.
