Star Wars: Ashes of Empire Officially Arrives This July

Star Wars: Unlimited players are about to get to revisit some of the biggest moments from the entire franchise next month when Ashes of the Empire arrives.

Fans have just been given their first look at the next expansion for Star Wars: Unlimited, and everything they have seen from Ashes of the Empire has been absolutely stunning so far. The new set will revolve around the events of the Battle of Endor and its aftermath, and will translate some of the most iconic moments in Star Wars history for the hit Collectible Card Game.

Ashes of the Empire Gives Star Wars: Unlimited a Major Upgrade

Slated to arrive sometime next month, Ashes of the Empire will give players a whole host of new cards. There’s a new leader in the form of Emperor Palpatine — According to My Design, along with the next iteration of the franchise’s original iconic villain in Darth Vader — Meet Your Destiny. In total, Ashes of the Empire will introduce just over 260 new cards to Star Wars: Unlimited.

Ashes of the Empire will also mark the debuts of multiple new mechanics. First among these is the Advantage Token, which will replace Experience Tokens for the set and will provide a temporary boost to any given attacking or defending unit. Emperor Palpatine — According to My Design is specifically capable of taking advantage of this new mechanic, stacking multiple Advantage Tokens on a single unit, albeit temporarily.

Star Wars: Unlimited players can also look forward to trying out a new keyword in the form of Support. Featured on cards such as Leia Organa — Vigilant for Danger, the Support keyword gives players the chance to grant the abilities of a unit with Support to another attacking unit on the turn that the former enters play.

Like the ability on Emperor Palpatine — According to My Design, this offers a temporary yet potentially game-changing buff, positioning the Support keyword to potentially have a massive impact on the wider meta game.

While Emperor Palpatine — According to My Design will headline one of the two new Spotlight Deck releases coming alongside Ashes of the Empire, the other will feature Luke Skywalker — I Can Save Him, who is tailor-made to remove damage from friendly units. As noted by the official announcement for Ashes of the Empire,

“Entering the fray as a Vigilance and Heroism leader, Luke’s playstyle is all about healing damage. His leader side can heal damage from your units, while his unit side can extend that healing to your base as well. Having a reliable source of healing tied to your leader opens up all sorts of strategies that use unit HP as a cost, and that is embodied in the rest of Luke’s pre-built deck.”

Star Wars: Unlimited — Ashes of the Empire will be available this July.
