Peter Parker gets so worried about his alter ego in a new clip, he seeks out advice from Bruce Banner (the Incredible Hulk) on suppressing his mutated gene
The first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day became the most-viewed trailer in 24 hours ever this past March, and now producers are starting over from scratch with a new glimpse at Tom Holland’s fourth venture into the Spiderverse, which opens July 31. The hooks this time include Spider-Man spinning out of control, Peter Parker asking Bruce Banner how to suppress his mutations, the Incredible Hulk hulking out incredibly, and, most horrifically, New York City skyscrapers crumbling outward.
In the trailer’s final scene, a group of what look like SWAT officers have Spider-Man surrounded and he stuns them by saying he needed to take a minute to stretch. “I’m not in high school anymore,” he quips. “Do you stretch? Are you a big stretcher? It’s so good for you.” Then of course he shows them what he’s made of.
Destin Daniel Cretton directed this installment of the franchise. In addition to Holland, the movie features Zendaya (who plays “MJ”), Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal (the Punisher), Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando (Scorpion), and Mark Ruffalo (the Hulk). The last trailer attracted 718.6 million views in 24 hours.
Holland told the Rich Roll podcast in 2024 that he found the script convincing. “Zendaya and I sat down and read it together, and we at times were bouncing around the living room like, ‘This is a real movie worthy of the fans’ respect,’” he said. “But there’s a few things we need to figure out before we can get that really going, but it’s exciting, and I’m really excited about it.”
