Persona 6 Officially Revealed

It’s been 10 years since the release of Persona 5, but at long last, Persona 6 has been officially revealed. The highly anticipated Atlus JRPG dropped a brief teaser at today’s Xbox Games Showcase, but the title has yet to reveal characters or a release date.

The Persona franchise began as a spinoff of the Shin Megami Tensei series, but it began to eclipse the original series in popularity after the 2006 release of Persona 3, which introduced social mechanics. To date, Persona 5 has sold more than 10.45 million copies, and Persona 6 has the potential to be even bigger.

Persona 6 Officially Dropped Its First Teaser Trailer

Persona fans got a brief but intriguing look at the upcoming Persona 6 with a brand-new teaser trailer, which is the first official announcement of the game. The eerie reveal video showed what looked like a twisted tree against a bright green sky and ended with a reveal of the game’s logo.

Sadly, the Persona 6 reveal trailer didn’t show off any gameplay, nor did it provide any information about when the game might arrive, but it was confirmed that the new JRPG will be available on Game Pass Day One whenever it does release. Persona 6 has reportedly been in development since 2021, with preparatory work starting nearly 10 years ago in 2017, so hopefully, fans won’t have to wait too much longer for a deeper reveal.

Thankfully, fans did get a much more detailed look at Persona 4 Revival, the upcoming remake that’s scheduled to release early next year. That game dropped its first full trailer and revealed its release date after showing off a teaser at last year’s Xbox Game Showcase, so it’s possible Persona 6 will follow a similar path.

The Persona Franchise Is Celebrating Its 30th Anniversary This Year

Atlus hasn’t said much about Persona 6, but fans suspected a big reveal was on the way soon. The Persona franchise is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026, which makes this year the perfect time to announce the next mainline game in the series.

Adding fuel to the fire were Persona 6 leaks, which allegedly showed concept art for characters in the upcoming title. Sega quickly responded to these leaks with DMCA takedowns, leading many fans to suspect they were legitimate. These characters weren’t seen in today’s teaser, and fans will have to wait longer for a deeper look at the game’s story.
