The original Solo Leveling web novel by author Chugong premiered in 2018 and quickly became an international sensation. The series follows Sung Jin-woo, a low-level Hunter in a world filled with all manner of menacing monsters.

When Jin-woo is approached by a mysterious entity known as the System, he is imbued with the unique ability to level up his own strength and abilities, setting him apart from all others and paving the way for an epic overarching mystery that cuts to the very core of Jin-woo’s entire world.

In 2024, just three years after the original web series came to a close, the Solo Leveling anime adaptation from A-1 Pictures made its debut, much to the delight of fans around the world. So far, Solo Leveling has amassed 25 episodes across two seasons, although fans have been left waiting for quite some time when it comes to further updates on the status of Season 3.

Fortunately, there has been plenty of headway made over the past year in Netflix’s live-action streaming adaptation. In 2025, publisher Kakao Entertainment released a statement espousing exceptionally high praise for Solo Leveling as a whole, as well as its intention to continue supporting it at every level.

Solo Leveling has now established itself as an IP representing K-content not only at Kakao Entertainment but also domestically and internationally,” the statement reads in part. “Kakao Entertainment will continue to invest in the Solo Leveling IP and create record-breaking history together. [Solo Leveling‘s] original setting continues through [Solo Leveling: Ragnarok], following the main story. We can look forward to endless expansion in the future.”

So far, Netflix’s live-action Solo Leveling series has amassed a heavily stacked cast, with numerous fan-favorite stars already taking on key roles. Currently leading the cast are Byon Woo Seok as SungJin-Woo, Han So Hee as Chae Hae-in, and Kang You Seok as Yoo Jin-ho. Back in November, it was reported that Kang You Seok had been approached for a role in Solo Leveling, as confirmed by his agency, though it was not reported whether he had accepted the role.

Solo Leveling from Netflix does not currently have a planned release date.
