Masters Of The Universe’s Ending May Have Just Revealed How He-Man Meets A Major Missing Hero

Warning: Spoilers for Masters of the Universe

An Easter egg in Masters of the Universe’s final minutes hints at the arrival of one of the movie’s biggest biggest missing characters. Directed by Travis Knight, the second live-action adaptation of the iconic Mattel toyline brought to live a slew of recognizable heroes and villains in the franchise. Both sides of the long-running conflict between He-Man and Skeletor were well represented, but, unsurprisingly, not everyone could be included.

Naturally, some Masters of the Universe characters will have to be saved for a sequel (if one is ultimately greenlit). Because of the vast number of characters that exist in He-Man’s world, there’s no way to be certain who could be on the horizon. Theoretically, Masters of the Universe 2 could pit He-Man and the Heroic Warriors against Hordak, King Hiss, Kobra Khan or perhaps some other villain in one of the cartoons or toylines.

In addition to refreshing the villain roster for the second movie, it makes sense that He-Man’s team of heroes will go through some changes as well. He-Man has multiple allies that had no role in Masters of the Universe, presumably due to the already-impressive size of the film’s cast. If the sequel finds room for more, Stratos stands out as one deserving of inclusion. And interestingly, there was an apparent nod toward him at the end of the movie.

Masters Of The Universe’s Avion Reference Teases King Stratos

Masters of the Universe ends by sending Prince Adam and Battle Cat off on a new adventure. In doing so, the movie seemingly created a status quo familiar to those who watched the cartoons, as each episode was generally a new escapade for He-Man. But the significance of this moment may be even deeper than that, as He-Man’s new mission appears to be tied directly to Stratos, a character with a reputation as one of the main Heroic Warriors.

As for where he’s going, the movie specified that an “Avion village” is in need of help. This is a reference to the Avion civilization, better known as the Bird People in the Masters of the Universe franchise. Possessing of bird-like qualities (including wings and the ability to fly), Avion has a close partnership with Eternia. In fact, their king, Stratos, would spend much of his time in Eternia as one of He-Man’s primary allies in battle. Curiously, though, Stratos wasn’t among the Heroic Warriors depicted in 2026’s Masters of the Universe.

But regardless of his absense, the movie’s ending all but guarantees that Stratos is out there somewhere. Masters of the Universe has confirmed that his people exist in the canon of the film, so formally introducing the character certainly feels like the next logical step.

What’s more, there’s a good reason for Stratos to be around in a possible sequel. Chances are, Masters of the Universe’s Avion tease isn’t directly related to the next movie, but it could be used to segue into a story where Stratos is a member of the Heroic Warriors. It could be that, in the aftermath of the film, He-Man saves the Bird People in the Avion village and subsequently earns the trust of their king.

Such an event occurring offscreen would pave the way for King Stratos to already be one of He-Man’s allies if and when Masters of the Universe 2 kicks off. With Stratos, Fisto, Teela, Man-At-Arms, and Mechaneck all with the potential to be on hand for He-Man and Battle Cat’s next battle, the sequel to Masters of the Universe could deliver even more fan service with its iteration of He-Man’s team.
