Marvel Officially Confirms Armored Redesign For Moon Knight’s Next Appearance

Marvel unveils a new Moon Knight redesign that draws inspiration from a fellow occult hero who made his live-action debut only one year before Marc Spector. Moon Knight’s costumes are inherently intertwined with his mythos, as they’re a direct physical manifestation of Marc Spector’s Dissociative Identity Disorder and his relationship with Khonshu. Unlike most heroes, who wear a single uniform to project a unified brand, Moon Knight switches between different outfits to empower the separate avatars beneath the mask. His most famous looks are the classic silver-and-white hooded vigilante shroud and Mr. Knight’s three-piece white business suit, but his wardrobe extends far beyond these two.

Some of Moon Knight’s most memorable costume variations include his armored vestments from his 2011 solo comic run, his bone-adorned scavenger gear used while hunting supernatural entities in ancient dimensions, and his stealth-oriented, All-New All-Different black-and-white variations. Other characters like Jessica Spector, Mariama Spector, Moon Knight 2099, and Arachknight put their own spin on Marc’s iconography. Thanks to his live-action debut, Moon Knight’s most widely known costumes are definitely now those featured in his MCU show. Marc Spector’s classic costume receives a mummy-wrapped upgrade, while Steven Grant’s Mr. Knight outfit utilizes a stylized, high-fashion seam pattern.

Characters like Janet van Dyne, She-Hulk, Dazzler, Tony Stark, and Loki are among the most fashionable heroes in Marvel Comics. However, the Marvel Universe’s supernatural corner is also home to stylish anti-heroes.

This year’s Hellfire Gala is themed, at least in part, around costume swaps. Variant covers illustrated by Marvel’s Stormbreakers artists feature Spider-Gwen wearing a Silk-inspired dress, Laura Kinney wearing Wolverine’s patch costume, Tony Stark wearing Hawkeye’s classic costume, She-Hulk dusting off Black Widow’s first-ever costume, Scarlet Witch wearing Polaris’ Malice costume, and Marc Spector borrowing Black Knight’s armor, which he wears under his classic white cloak. Moon Knight drops his traditional mask in favor of Dane Whitman’s helmet, and he carries the Ebony Blade on his hip.

Marvel Unveils Wolverine’s Official Mech Redesign, And It’s Epic

Although Wolverine’s adamantium skeleton makes him nearly invincible, Logan gets his own epic mech suit as he joins Marvel’s new superhero team.

Despite having few direct connections to the X-Men, Moon Knight has plenty of experience showing off new looks at the Hellfire Gala. In previous editions of the mutants’ fashion event, artist Mark Brooks designed a Mr. Knight Hellfire outfit with one Khonshu skull on either shoulder, and W. Scott Forbes designed a minimalistic costume with a plain white mask and a white poncho. Marvel Rivals also gifted Marc Spector a different Hellfire Gala outfit, with moon-themed jewelry, a transparent shirt, and a fully exposed head.

An Actual Moon Knight & Black Knight Team-Up May Arrive Sooner Than You Think

Moon Knight’s Midnight Sons Are Coming

The cosmic and mystical corners of the Marvel Universe are rapidly aligning. In Marc Spector: Moon Knight #5, Clea announces the return of the Midnight Sons with a cryptic Tarot card tease. Clea and Marc Spector are almost guaranteed to be the team’s leaders, but “the Moon, the Empress, the Devil, the Chariot, and the Hermit” remain a mystery. While Moon Knight’s Midnight Mission teammates are the main candidates to fil these roles, some of Marvel’s occult icons could also join. Dane Withman fits the profile of a dark, street-level warrior burdened by a supernatural legacy, which makes him an ideal candidate.

Black Knight and Moon Knight’s canon team-up would pair Khonshu’s fist with the bearer of the blood-cursed Ebony Blade, something that strangely enough, doesn’t happen too often. This potential team-up presents the chance to revitalize Black Knight, a character who has been largely overlooked and underutilized in recent years. Despite his rich history as a prominent Avenger and a protector of Avalon, Dane Whitman has spent too much time relegated to brief cameos or short-lived miniseries. Add an inspired redesign, and Black Knight’s alliance with Moon Knight or the entire Midnight Sons could launch him back into the spotlight.
