Marlon Wayans Reveals White Chicks 2 Concept After Scary Movie Success

Ahead of the release of Scary Movie, Marlon Wayans was teasing that the film’s potential success could finally get White Chicks 2 greenlit. With Scary Movie now proving to be successful at the box office, Wayans is confirming that there are ongoing talks about what to do with a White Chicks sequel.

Wayans shared the latest word on White Chicks 2 in a new interview with Variety. It was suggested to the actor and filmmaker that the sequel could take place at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. Wayans agreed that this would make for an interesting setting, though he also feels that the White Chicks characters could be funny “anywhere,” even in outer space. He also shared his idea of making a Christmas-themed sequel as another possibility for how to bring them back.

A Very White Chicks Christmas Is Being Discussed

As Wayans says, “That’s not a terrible idea! I just had that conversation with my big brother and I shot him down. White Chicks can go anywhere, but Mar-a-Lago and Florida would definitely be a fun place to make that happen and see our girls in that world. White Chicks are like Madea — you can send them to space and they’ll be funny. I wanna do A Very White Chicks Christmas. I have a different idea, but we’re discussing. And we’ll find the right place to put them.”

Released in 2004, White Chicks might be the most controversial comedy made by the Wayans Brothers. Directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, the movie starred Marlon and Shawn Wayans as a pair of brothers working for the FBI who go undercover as white women in order to foil a kidnapping plot. Though it garnered negative reviews and was criticized for its use of whiteface, it was a box office hit, making over $113 million. The movie has also become a cult classic in the years since its release, and there have been fans asking for a sequel.

“I’ll put it this way: we’re game,” Marlon said last month when asked by ET about the possible sequel. “If people — we want to know, if people want to come out and laugh, they come see Scary Movie, then I definitely [will pursue White Chicks 2].

Shawn Wayans added, “If this movie does well, our White Chicks 2 can happen.”

Scary Movie was pummeled by the critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but it also set a new high for the franchise with its audience score. Its box office earnings have also been excellent so far, as it’s poised to become the No. 1 film with its debut weekend, overcoming the big-budget feature Masters of the Universe. This is exactly the kind of result that the Wayans Brothers were looking for in order to finally be able to move forward with another White Chicks movie.

Scary Movie is playing in movie theaters.
